I downvote the Chinese propaganda spam. Also the poorly written opinion pieces with unsourced claims or tabloid articles.

There’s no way to make a meme against a group or in support of an ideology without stripping away all the nuance and dehumanizing people. Many of the articles that are posted here are misleading and in some cases entirely untrue.

Yesterday, I down voted an article claiming “AP confirms no Uyghur genocide”. I read the cited AP article and found the post’s click bait title was completely false. The post’s author is pointing at a report that contradicts his beliefs and claiming that his beliefs are therefore correct because the article is lieing. It is fine to refute an article, but to twist an article’s words and then claim that the source says something it clearly doesn’t is just dishonest.

I believe misleading and dehumanizing posts should be downvoted in order to promote a space where diverse peoples can all feel welcome.

They may not be downvoting the actual leftist content of the article or meme, but something else, especially the plethora unrelated subjects that have been tied to leftist ideologies.

Because it is a private, federated alternative to reddit. Plus, most of the ‘leftist’ shit here is just Chinese propaganda.

I don’t downvote Leftists posts, i am in the center and I’m very progressive. If i weren’t, i would be on fucking gab (i hate that shit). I really don’t like people defending dictatorships, something i know very well since i live in Venezuela. Also accept that China is a cyberpunk dystopia with serious human rights violations and is creating a system that makes impossible for a revolution to rise. I’ve been told that money in Venezuela didn’t matter, that is a “socialist utopia” has also been told that Venezuela is not socialism, and that is stupid to call Venezuela a poor country (i literally just need to walk outside my home to prove then wrong). These are interactions i had on Lemmy alone. Now imagine how much shit i got on Reddit.

English speaking leftist are always like “Oh, i don’t care about your first hand experience, this book i bought on Amazon says otherwise”

Some people need to chill and start recognizing propaganda when they see it.

I don’t know what left is and at this point I am too afraid to ask.

Some people here like to down vote for random nit picky reasons I’ve noticed or because they fanboy over certain topics and hate on anything that questions it. I also noticed people on the internet like to tear at anything, regardless of what they believe just because that’s how they are.

People assume malice instead of stupidity when posting their clickbait articles that self verify their own conclusion
