Today’s discussion questions are…

  1. What have you been playing recently?

  2. What do you hope to play later, if anything?

Bonus question:

What do you think of the June month of video game events? Sony and Microsoft’s presentations, for example, that happened recently?

I liked the previous events more, in my opinion.

Also, shameless plug-in for a Discord server made by me, the InformedTankie mods, and BayArea415:

I’ve played a bit of Celeste.

I want to get into Stardew Valley since I’ve started and put that game down so many times I want to actually make some decent progress on it.

Any tips and tricks are appreciated as it might help me break through the wall I have with the game and once I get rolling properly with it I know I’ll be addicted.

Lol Starfield is an xbox exclusive? Thanks Bethesda /s

Don’t worry too much about making slow progress.

That being said, rush sprinklers. The ones that only cover the 8 tiles around them are surprisingly good, despite what you may first think of them.

The time saved by having sprinklers is incredible.

Going mining? Bombs are probably your best friend.

      small exploit

Don’t have a good enough axe to get into the secret woods? Just use a chair. Place it on the left side of the log, and sit on it.

To get out, do the same thing, but on the other side of the log.

I think that was my biggest mistake first time round. I thought id miss out if I didn’t get all the slots of the community centre filled up in the first spring etc and my autistic brain was like “well now it’s ruined” because just waiting for the seasons to roll back around was apparently unacceptable to me lol.

        Rush sprinklers, got it!

        Okies I’ll remember bombs 💣

There’s a secret wood?! See I don’t know anything lol.

Are you looking forward to the haunted chocolatier?

It might be fun, but with how sparse the details are right now, I can’t really tell if it’d be my cup of tea or not

Modding potential or just prefer it on that platform?

Unless your about to tell me there’s extra content and im going to have to sink another 300+ hours into it because it’s perfect.

                • There’s no extra content announced as far as I know. I’m hoping they at least raise the frame cap to 60 FPS

I have my Steam Deck coming in the mail this week, so I’m excited about the prospect of playing P5R on the go.

I’m going to try emulating P5 on the PS3 on the Deck anyway, but I’d much rather have Royal (somewhat) native

Where did you get to in Celeste ? Did you finish the main game ? If not, for reason ? Gameplay ? Story ?

I’ve done the first two levels, I haven’t put it down or anything I just have work and life getting in the way so I’ve not felt the draw to pick it up whenever I have some spare time… yet. I’ve loved what I’ve played so far just a case of getting further when I find the motivation.

Haha, I didn’t know that about Starfield. Maybe I’ll get an Xbox Series S instead of a PlayStation 5 like I originally planned. Also, Celeste is pretty good!

It’s on PC as well but frankly I don’t have the money to build a new desktop to run it.

I’m loving it, I haven’t hit the “okay now I’m obsessed and need to play it non stop to the end” stage yet that usually kicks in for me around the first third of a game but I know it will soon.

Just started playing Elder Scrolls Online. I like it a lot so far. I have never played mmo’s but with covid I have been keeping to myself a lot and I work from home so it seemed like a good idea.

  • Thinking about firing up No Man’s Sky for some relaxation.

I think im looking forward to Callisto Protocol. But Im starting to have a come to jesus moment about how stunningingly violent videogames are and it’s starting to get disturbing to me. Im turning into a boomer square.

I am however looking very forward to The Last Faith.

I was seduced briefly by Starfield and had to remember that it’s made by Both in their old engine. Just no.

Still playing Anomaly + GAMMA on and off, recently managed to lose an ironman savefile to a bunch of mercs because I thought I was hot shit after having good results ironmanning vanilla Anomaly. Definite increase in overall difficulty right there.

I haven’t really followed any of the recent events. I kinda lost any hope or interest in most AAA gaming. From Microsoft’s lineup, I used to be quite fond of Obsidian but their recent stuff disappointed me.

GAMMA is a big modpack for Stalker Anomaly that mostly revolves around overhauling progression and actually making you interact with all the various gameplay systems like crafting and repairing gear. It also comes with an installer for maximum convenience, and you can check more info out here https://github.com/Grokitach/Stalker_GAMMA

I can definitely recommend it, but as noted before it does make the game significantly harder.

Honestly, I keep coming back to stormworks as a decent vehicle builder game. Not much to do outside of building a functional vehicle, but you can get into the nitty gritty of how power routes through your vehicle, what servos do what etc etc.

Am throwing together a design for a large long-term nuclear powered VTOL, for which there could be no possible negative.

I feel like the odd one out regarding Elden Ring. I absolutely loved the soulsborne games up to Sekiro, which I just kinda liked, and then when Elden Ring came out I was so excited for it and then… just kinda stopped playing halfway through. I have zero motivation to continue playing which sucks because everyone keeps calling it a masterpiece so I’m sitting here like what’s wrong with me lol. I wonder if I have some kind of From Fatigue or something.

Right now I’m on my third playthrough of Pathfinder WOTR. It’s such a good CRPG, I love it bugs and all. As for what I hope to play later, I just saw an article about a possible Tactics Ogre remake happening so I hope that turns out to be real because I loved LUCT and tactics games in general (Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favorite games).

Not alone about there about Elden Ring, played Soulsbornes games since Demons Souls on PS3 and Elden Ring is the only one I didn’t even care to finish. To me it it felt like a tedious slog to find things like ball bearings and Estus upgrades which you need to keep going to the wiki to find unless you want to wander pointlessly for hours finding stuff you will never use. PvP meanwhile is the most boring and stale it’s ever been with invasions being completely dead and people just using poke attacks on things like Heavy Rapiers and Dual Lances all the time in duals. The beautiful art design and it just being a AAA game in 2022 that’s genuine and not made by a team of psychologist hired to make a game as predatory as possible is really all that carries the game.

It wasn’t for you. That’s fine. Don’t play games just because they’re popular AAA games.

Also, I’m playing Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous right now. Love it.

Still grinding hard for Celeste Goldens berries, 3 remaining. Also playing Nier Replicant but I am a little bit disappointed by it.

An answer to both what I plan and current announcement : Stormgate by Frost Giant. I am afano of StarCraft II, and even more of Warcraft III. But waiting almost 3 years will be painfull !

I also have to try Tunic which seems cool, and Elden Ring, since apparently everyone agrees it is a masterpiece. But never played any from software game before, so that may be why I am not so hyped.

It’s the easiest FromSoftware game. Also, WeMod helps with getting through tough spots.
