I have only known recession, when do I get to experience something else?
The same thing we do every recession, Pinky. Try to spend as little as possible on only the essentials and hope we don’t end up homeless.
Probably The Winchester.
Self-employed tradesman, ill probably have to get a normal job. Which sucks for everyone, I keep my costs way lower for customers but digging up business and doing the work is a real challenge. And obviously ill miss my freedom. But at least ill just have to pull my 40hrs.
Maybe dumb question: are there loose trade groups that could share advertising / business digging? Or are you basically in competition with everyone else in your field?
Not the person you’re asking, but I’d guess the answer is, it depends. When I had a lawn care service I’d send work to other guys who did what I wouldn’t and they would reciprocate. Did the same with my PC fixing side hustle. “I don’t fix phone screens, but I know a guy.”
Kinda, sure. I know some people and we help each other when we can. And there’s networking stuff you can do, local small business meetings where you can hand out some cards.
But competition is spiking. Lots of people are starting in trades like mine now.

Jerking dudes off behind a dumpster is recession proof employment.
And then you pay another dude to jerk you off, and he pays the guy you jerked off to jerk him off. That’s 3x GDP right there. Recession solved.
Doing that tech bro math.
I’ve had friends in the strip club business that have complained about how they make less money when the economy is down. Idk if your plan would be affected in the same way.
Totally different business I actually give the people what they want.
Until you sell out to private equity.
Plans? Sir, you’ve misjudged me.
I’m already homeless and I’ve got an okay job. So I either I keep living like I do or things become too expensive and I die.
care to expand a little? interesting (the homeless and jobful part)
same way we live now? ( m and f couple)
debt free
electricity cost is near $0 (have a solar systems that grid feeds surplus electricity we’re paid for)
have an ecar and ebike we charge of said solar, so make our own fuel
live in a small rural community, lots of people DIY and grow their own food and swap/sell
have a free bus once a day to the nearby bigger city, use it on occasion for dentist/doctors appointments, or a day out in town
have a small acreage on the edge of town and get as much free beef as we want for letting the local farmer use it
have dozens of fruit trees around our house
my gf is a Chef who loves growing her own veg and fruit and cooks superb meals
have three years of expenses as cash
pay for water and local government taxes which is fine, get clean drinking water and the roads etc are repaired and we get a “free” library and “free” swimming pool out of it
same as last one. die.
you failed last time, didn’t you
failed at something. not sure which counts as the failure tho
Suicide?
Die, mostly.
Y’all have plans?
Do not spend money unless you really need those things. Live as a minimalist. It means some sort of isolation, but it is better than being homeless!
Starve
