And the Untied States will invade Brazil to install him as president. I wish I was kidding and didn’t see this as a real possibility

Brazil isn’t Venezuela, much bigger, stronger institutions, stronger army etc. Never say never but you think Trump is eager on getting into another Iran war?

Well…Iran is a vast country, with a deeply rooted regime, strong military, proxies all over the Middle East ánd the ability to chokehold global energy supplies…

…and yet Trump was stupid enough to wage war on Iran on a whim. Nuff said.

Don’t worry, if we were to elect a government in Australia that worked for the people they’d do the same here.

I tried to get hired on as a cement operator (oil and gas) in Australia for a bit. You all dodged a bullet on that one. I would have been there illegally for damn sure after that work posting ended.

A Latin American illegally entering the US on a revoked passport? How much would you bet ICE would cuff him at the airport if he was anyone else?

Brazil showing the US how it’s done. Trump should’ve been that scared after Jan 6.

We’ve always collected them. The Shah, Batista, Santa Anna, the police chief who executed a prisoner in Saigon, President Thieu, that dumb woman who thought she would get put in power in Venezuela if she gave Trump her Nobel Peace prize.

We almost had Napoleon I too (that would have been pretty cool though)

Idi Amin spent the last couple of decades of his life in Saudi Arabia. I can’t think of anything that Saudi Arabia has in common with Russia …

More info from the similar Guardian article:

Bolsonaro allies told Metrópoles [news outlet] that he would land in Florida on Tuesday afternoon and planned to request political asylum. “The Donald Trump administration has been informed,” the website added.

A US state department spokesperson said Bolsonaro and his family would be granted visas “to allow them entry into the United States.”

Bolsonaro has had Italian citizenship since 2023 and reportedly possesses a passport from the European country.

Lula slammed what he called Bolsonaro’s “shameful” decision to flee. “This is what the family Bolsonaro are like. Brazil is their second homeland. Their first homeland is licking the boots of the US, as he’s become accustomed to doing,” he said at an event celebrating his 81st birthday in Brasília.

One of the biggest indicators of whether a country is a fascist country is that other fascists flee to that country.

Eh. This is more an indication that Lulu, specifically, has learned his lessons from his first turn at the Presidency and isn’t going to wait around for the Bolsonaros to organize a coup against him.

Look at Columbia or El Salvador or Ecuador or Chile. They all had a turn at Biden tier liberalism, let the fascism feaster under their watch, and then got flipped to reactionary dictatorships in the next cycle.

Lulu got jailed once. He came out stronger and smarter. He’s too old to get shoved back into prison again.

Didn’t Jair Bolsonaro also flee to the USA immediately after losing his election in 2022?

Maybe the universe will do us all a solid, and a singularity will open from their handshake and last just long enough to zip them both into the sun.

Well, the US famously don’t like immigrants, so I’m sure the fine boys from ICE will sort him out.

    What?

What do you mean it doesn’t matter because he’s rich?

Well, that’s an oddly unprincipled stance to take. So, perfectly good foreign nationals with low net worth will be incarcerated but literally the devil himself would not if he had wealth?

Yes I know who Elon Musk is…

It blows my mind just thinking this guy almost won the presidency of the second biggest country of the continent. Two days ago he was voting and lecturing about democracy.
