They aren’t concentration camps. The area had an issue with terrorist attacks, so the Chinese government being marxist leninists used materialist analysis to determine that poverty caused people to turn to violent ideologies, so they worked extra hard to give the people in the area an education, these centers they went to were essentially just schools, not concentration camps. In addition to this they worked on improving the infrastructure in the area.

Also something most people don’t know is that these extremist groups were recruiting people on Facebook and the CPC asked facebook to do something about it and they refused, so then China banned Facebook from the country.

Mandatory schools where doctors can go to learn how to be involuntary unskilled laborers and praise Xi Jingping all day long.

Forced reeducation camps -> forced labor. Calling that a concentration camp is pretty fair.

Thanks for the sources, I find this one particularly interesting. I’ll need to look into it more carefully, since we already know there’s a great deal of manipulation around this issue.

Edit: tl;dr: “we have extremely hard evidence that the Chinese authorities are putting people in prison for breaking the law”.

That’s the website that uses AI generated pictures for their “prisoners list”. Linked to the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation which not only decided to count all COVID deaths as victims of communism in 2020, but was literally started by people active in Nazi organisations.

Like this guy’s picture at the bottom:

There used to be pictures of people in the same exact clothes, pulling the same exact pose, in the exact same background just with a different face but they seem to have removed those pictures after people caught on. edit: https://old.reddit.com/r/ShitLiberalsSay/comments/uy02ya/why_yes_i_totally_believe_the_xinjiang_police/

        A bit late but yeah.

Thank you! I eventually found out about the AI-generated pictures. I know it’s weird on my part to listen to libs like that, but they always turn out wrong, so whatever… In this case I was pointing out that, even if what the webpage said was right, they weren’t claiming anything special.

We can go even deeper on the sources OP gave (what a shock the “don’t be mean” beehaw users act like mouthpieces for imperialism).

The ICIJ, despite its grand sounding name, is a CIA op. They were the ones who published the Pandora papers which were much smaller in size than the Panama papers (for which actual journalists died) and did not name any USians. None.

They’re an op to catch whistle-blowers essentially.

The BBC has long abandoned any non-partisan standing and some of their subsidiaries got their journalism licenses revoked by the UK gov because they are not journalists. I think there is a specific act that completely changed the BBC from being a public news broadcaster to simply a public broadcaster. I’d have to look for it.

The Guardian despite their “lefty” (self) claim is consistently against anything progressive. When corbyn was being smeared by the media for “anti semitism” (a claim which has now backfired on Labour and their Jewish constituents), they happily ran with the claims and amplified them. I have literally never seen any guardian article that wasn’t actually neoliberal propaganda. They’re at best a Blairite rag.

I’m surprised they didn’t cite Wikipedia lol

false trichotomy. Like… super false, to the point of being nonsensical. I never even claimed to be anti-communist, but tankies are really stupid communists whose main theory is not “communism is good” but “the west is always wrong, more often than a broken clock.”

Who the fuck taught you how politics works? liberals are left wing, tankies are radical left, fascists are radical right,

A marxist or a leninist is a type of communist, whereas a tankie pretends to care about communism while really only caring about talking about how the west is always wrong, and always the worst thing about the world, and how Russia, China, and the Middle East are always fine and can never do anything wrong (especially in comparison to the west).
