    If you use gmail, a software robot will read your pre-sent emails and remind you to attach things.

    And it totally won’t look for interesting tidbits and report back to Google anything it finds. Like, no way.

        why would it be a problem for thunderbird to do that (assuming they do it offline. you don’t need an internet connection for if "attached" in body)

    This is like the ONE thing I enjoy about using Outlook at work. If you use the word “attached” in your email, it’ll prompt you when you hit “send” if you haven’t attached anything. I know there are downsides to this type of things, but it sure is convenient.
