That’s actually really awesome news. I’ve been using Linux since 2008, and I’ve never seen companies so pressured to have Linux support. Companies that have never given a shit are now seeing missing dollar signs. That’s big.

As someone who does photography as a hobby/side hustle I’ll say, though it’s not FOSS, it was a SOLID Adobe Creative Suite replacement. You could actually just buy once and own forever instead of all the other subscription based creative software out there.

Then Canva bought them, said “It’s free!*” and its gone downhill ever since. Luckily I can still use what I bought, because not subscription, but definitely not what it used to be.

Good news. I think they might struggle a bit with the ArtCraft stuff in development.

I’d much rather use a paid software that was written by people than a free software that was written by clankers.

Adobe’s subscription prices aren’t that much if you consider them a business expense. They’re cheaper than an ISP. It’s not the prices that make Adobe shit, it’s the practices.

The fact that this is downvoted is really frustrating, as a software engineer. Expensive software pays the bills for the developers who make it. When that software is for professionals, they generally don’t mind the expense.

The things that make Adobe shitty have nothing to do with how pricey the software is. Adobe has shit business practices, they’re anti-competitive, and they use dark patterns and deceptive, borderline illegal terms to exploit their users. That is why you should hate them.

It would be super great if all software could be free, but then people like me wouldn’t be able to afford rent. If you’ve ever donated to an open source project, kindly disregard this, you are awesome.

This is genuinely good news for me. I’ve been using Darktable for the last couple of years. This could add a valuable work and production flow.

If this is true then this is great. I’ve been using designer as a vector tool for all the art in a game I’m making, partly because it’s free and I can export over to Spine for animation.

Would mean I don’t have to keep switching between my desktop and MacBook when I’m trying to draw assets.

After further consideration, I take my statement back and I apologise for judging without knowing. I still keep up my statement with Linux as slop though.
