Cool so they are preparing for war. It was just economic annexation, now it’s maybe we use force but “that’s really unlikely”.

The shit ass thing is that you can’t take everything he says seriously. Except everything out of his mouth is dementia riddled cacophonous nonsense and you can’t decipher one from another. This makes the norm to take everything stupid thing out of his mouth seriously.

The Big Macs are working too slow.

The stakes are too high not to take this kind of threat seriously.

It’s like two kids playing on a playground, and then one kid tells the other, :“I’m gonna **** your sister!” while brandishing a switchblade. And then, when the kid gets sent to the principal, he says it was a joke, and that no one has a sense of humor.

He wants to follow through with these plans to appease his cult but he cannot (at least not militarily) as the blowback would effectively end his regime and possibly the US as a whole.

So his plan has been to topple Canada’s economy through economic pressure but that has been backfiring too. Canada may only have a tiny fraction of the population the US has but we do a huge amount of trade with them, have a lot of resources they require, host a lot of their manufacturing, and we hold a lot of their treasury bonds and national debt. There is no way for the US to have a trade war with Canada without walking away with catastrophic losses across numerous industries and a highly devalued US dollar.

We have already seen that, when under real pressure, Trump will fold. Most notably, he’s done it with Canada under Carney and with China. So for now these threats are just hot air to appease his base and to act as a distraction while he plunders the country’s coffers. But we need to treat him and his threats seriously as we would any other threat to sovereignty because one day these won’t be just threats. The US is lead by a senile fascist tyrant whose mental health degrades by the day; he should be treated with extreme caution at all times.

I don’t believe he’s stating this to “appease” his cult. This is an extension of his ego, the same way he admires Putin. He wants to be known as the president who expanded the US.

He will do it, the same way Hitler annexed Austria in 1938. He’s trying to build support for it on both sides of the border, like Hitler. And for the most part we’ve been pushing back.

But don’t forget we came close to electing someone who said he wanted to run Canada more like Trump’s US, who would pursue an anti-woke agenda to bring back bigotry, racism, and descrimination. Someone who told us all out loud that he would invoke the notwithstanding clause to remove our rights.

And there are still many Canadians who support him and his agenda. And ontop of that you have the outright traitors opening their arms to a US take-over.

We dodged it this time, but we are one election away from going down that exact same road. Do not underestimate how close we still are.

The Liberal party can’t keep winning forever. We need to get serious about this now and strengthen our rights and protections so they can hold up against the tide.

Remember when the left was in control and we didn’t have to worry about things on a daily basis and shit like this wasn’t even close to being on the table?

As someone who lives in Brazil, I would love for Lula and the government to do something more, but I’m so fucking relieved of not waking up everyday to some news of the president (Bolsonaro) doing or saying some stupid shit for nothing else that to see itself on the news.
