Not to be a spoil sport but rating how good it bad ANY genetic material is always feels icky to me. If we want to fully move away from eugenics, we need to stop its narrative even in case of garbage humans like musk, too.

I respect your position but have to disagree.

Trump, Musk ,and probably most of their circle come from families that have a strong inclination towards psychopathy. While there surely are ecological causes for this the probability of genetic causes supporting this are high.

Capitalism and before that feudalism has positively selected psychopaths for centuries. It’s time we stopped breeding people incapable of empathy.

Because they have nothing going for them. So they look at an old portrait of some long dead white dude who actually did something nice (like make music they never listen to, or wrote poetry they never read or understand) and say that this is all belongs to them.

Declining population, my ass. There were less than 4.5 billion people on the planet when I was born. That fash-hole is only worried that white people will represent a minority of the future population. Nothing more.

If they Thanos snapped all non-white people on the planet, I guarantee you, the French, European Spanish, Irish, and others will suddenly be non-white and be enslaved to do former jobs. They will insist they dress differently and even tattoo them from infancy to insist they are very genetically different from ‘proper’ whites and thus are only fit for slavery.

Decline population is an actual thing…? Not defending this asshole or anything but your statement is seemingly based off of a lack of information.

Birth rates in many developed countries are incredibly low well below maintenance levels. Meaning that aside from immigration the population in most developed countries is actually going down quite rapidly.

Which given the way our societies and financial systems are structured generally means some form of disaster for those countries if such decline occurs.

There’s even a pretty good recent video talking about what this looks like in South Korea

      Blue indicates below replacement levels:

Well, we’re going to have to figure out how to level off or shrink our population eventually. Might as well do it now while there are still some wild animal species that haven’t gone extinct.

A lower population isn’t that bad. It’s just that the transition when you have a very large old population and a small young one is very difficult.

Watch this video, ignore the clickbait sounding title:

            https://youtu.be/Ufmu1WD2TSk

It completely changed my view on that.

Basically, without high birth rates, countries are totally screwed. Immigration (which skews young, from high birth rate countries), has softened that issue for the US, hence you don’t hear about it as much here. One can wave their hands and say “elder care and the economy will be automated in the future,” but that’s wishful thinking if you ask me.

Figuring out how to more efficiently house/care for a glut of humans farther in the future is way more practical. Honestly we’re ridiculously inefficient now; there’s a lot of low hanging fruit to pick. And we can use much higher technology to address that.

        two billion in 1927
        three billion in 1960
        four billion in 1974
        five billion in 1987
        six billion in 1999
        seven billion in 2011
        eight billion in 2022

Already too many for my taste.

This… might just be the craziest thing I’ve read since the election

      We so far have:

      1. Trump turning the White House in a Tesla dealership
      2. Trump putting tarrifs on penguins, but not on Russia
      3. US warplans leaked because someone doesn’t know how to use his phone
      4. The US becoming a crypto bro.
      5. The US looking to invade Canada, Mexico, Panama, and Greenland while also looking to extort the rest of the fucking planet.
      6. The US stealing the Gulf of Mexico from Mexico.

Just to name a few. We are only 4 months into his term people. I’d say Elon humping everything that moves is just a regular tuesday.

It’s easy to forget just how much money a billion dollars is, let alone hundreds of billions.

You could hire three hundred people at a very generous salary of $250k/year. 8 hour shifts, that gives you 100 people guarding you 24/7. That would $75 million/year. You could do that off the investment income from a single billion dollars. Pay them the salary more typical of a security guard, like $50k/year, and Musk could be surrounding 24/7 by one hundred thousand security guards, and it would cost him $15 billion/year. He has enough wealth to afford that if he really wanted to. The man could take a cue from ancient Rome and commission his own army if he wanted to.

We need to eliminate billionaires. No one should have this type of power.
