Yeah it’s always a shame when you go to an establishment and the beer is clearly an afterthought. My husband has ruined certain places for me because he will always notice when the draft lines aren’t clean or when he can taste diacetyl in the beer (an off-taste some beers get that smells/tastes like buttered popcorn flavouring).

The pours we are talking about have nothing to do with the prank in the video, that’s just them fucking with an old man. The Czech-style foam pours come in three types:

Hladinka (smooth): 1/3 foam, 2/3 beer

Šnyt (split): half-half to two-thirds foam

Mliko (milk): all foam

The Czechs invented that way of pouring their beer and a special tap for doing so, it’s a tradition, just like the Germans and English have their own traditions around their local styles.

It’s literally a centuries-old tradition, so clearly there have been huge amounts of people over many, many years who don’t think it makes the beer taste like shit. This is not a new thing. I’ve also had it and it’s pretty fuckin good if you’re not already drinking shit beer.

Also, wtf? Nobody is earnestly giving people these pours without them explicitly ordering them, so idk what you’re fuckin on about saying it makes people feel unwelcome. If you don’t fucking want one, don’t fucking order one.

In every brewery I’ve been to that has these pours, they adjust the price accordingly and you’re not getting ripped off anymore than buying a regular pint (price per actual ml of beer poured is approx. the same). I’ve never heard somebody in an actual brewery I’ve been to say that foam was better than beer, but there are a lot of reasons for these different pilsner pours.

If you’re curious, I can ask my husband (a brewer) what the purpose of these pours is.

I love tattoos personality. It’s just another mode of self expression. I have a lot of tattoo artist friends who are extremely talented and I love having their art on my body. I also love what getting tattoos does to my self-esteem. Nothing like a tattoo to make me enjoy a part of my body I previously hated!

Edit to add: i also enjoy getting them. I like the pain, it’s the only thing that shuts my brain up, plus it helps my immune system when I’ve had multiple sessions recently.

The real piss off with that is that while I realize it isn’t their fault they are socialized that way, if they really want to believe that they, individually, are one of the “good ones” (as in, the non-problematic men, the ones not contributing to the problem) they can’t justify that belief unless they are actively listening when we tell them what we experience, or how something comes across from our perspective. The beauty of Lemmy isn’t that it attracts or allows different people, but that we aren’t advertised to, and we are able to block instances or communities that don’t work for us, and we are able to fully curate our home pages without being shown posts from completely unrelated pages just because they paid money to be boosted. Once that is done and we have found and settled into our spaces, that is where the good interactions come out.

Then it’s not properly taught. You’re still queuing, and if everyone is taught how to do it correctly and is executing it correctly, it works well and everybody gets their turn. Hell, you don’t even need everybody to do it correctly, just most people.

If people don’t fully understand the concept enough to recognize that they are still in line and get their turn, then they were not taught the concept correctly or are not smart enough to be driving a vehicle.
