      Bike lanes suck.

They’re better than no bike infrastructure at all, but they’re still suck city compared to dedicated bike paths with physical barriers between cyclists/cars and even cyclists/pedestrians.

they suck on stroads, yes. they’re mostly fine in tight downtown areas alongside a single vehicle lane.

I think most people refer to physically separated bike paths that share the same road surface as bike lanes. personally, I don’t really like completely separate bike paths (around here, most commonly multi use paths), because they’re not actually designed as infrastructure, but as recreation, so connections and directness are poor.

but, yes, just tossing in a bike lane is not the proper solution, it’s a bandaid on the way to a complete infrastructure replan. and fuck you Ontario for blocking them and ripping them out

Unprotected bike lanes are actually worse than nothing so yeah.

I miss living on the Toronto harbourfront and being able to bike an hour in either direction along the lake with very minimal interactions with cars…

I hate riding my bike on streets. I’m lucky my area has dedicated bike zones all along the main streets, separated by barriers. I wish more side streets had them, as well. I wish f’in everywhere had them.

To be fair, that’s what the Republicans say too. They just mean something very different by those words.

Neither side interprets the spoken words at face value. The moral difference is very much in the underlying ideology, not in these explicit words.

This is unironically how the right sees Trump and his ilk though. Vividly remember a conversation between two family members when one said “why are people mad? He just wants to make America great again.”

Not sure the point I’m trying to make tbh. Just be careful with how we envision “our” candidates in our minds.

I’ve heard soooo many conservatives saying that “both sides are bad” and yes, I will agree. Within reason both sides are bad, but in all honesty, only one side is protecting pedophiles, starting meaningless wars, and endangering the lives of other people just because of who they want to sleep with and the color of their skin and who they chose to worship.

They aren’t all conservatives saying both sides commit evil, in fact, that’s a very not conservative thing to believe.

The Democrats are also protecting pedophiles and have started wars and also still complicit in a genocide. They are fucking indistinguishable from outside of America.

When was this mythical version of the Democratic party that didn’t involve itself in imperialist wars? Obama it was Syria, Afghanistan, and Yemen, and deportations. Biden it was Gaza, Yemen, Lebanon and more deportations.

They are not our friends (at least they aren’t mine) even if they do this stuff less they are not to be supported.
