Imagine the matrix came out today. A movie where people have become nothing more than disposable interchangeable sources of energy for a society run by machines. With an endless supply of media/simulated reality used to placate the human livestock and keep them from rising up. Oh and the pinnacle of human history is the 1990s. That all checks out way too much, there’s no way this movie would be allowed to be made today.
I love this comic because in the “make it or make it perfect” debate, I’d rather 100 flawed comics asking people to think then 1 perfect comic that does the same. Hell yeah to typos and imperfect art!
Any of you seeing the text too small and distorted?
You don’t actually want to see that spelling. Small and distorted is much better.
Is there any credit to artist?
im the artist. this is my first comic.
Based. It’s a little hard to read the text tho
Source is this post by Reddit user ProfessionalOrder667. The user posts in the comments about being the original artist.
EDIT: See replies, OP is the original artist!

Oh awesome! Glad you’re here.
For future reference, if you put [OC] in the post title that’s a good way to indicate that you’re posting Original Content.
Thank you!
AI in most movies: Evil killing robot.
AI in reality: Evil robot that convinces others to kill, also makes bad “art” en masse that it hurts artists’ visibility, also makes subpar code en masse that it hurts open source projects’ visibility, not to mention it melts your brain.
(When will the first slasher movie come out, that features a troubled person getting addicted to a chatbot, which turns them into a serial killer?)
If I draft a screenplay about it and credit you will you come to my premier of “CHATBOT KILLER: ALGORITHM OF EVIL”
i don’t want to spoil this

I think men would misunderstand the message of fight club even more now and it would become a white supremacist hit.
Ah yes “men” because they are a unified block of people.
I am tired of sexism. Can we stop, please?
It was a film targeted towards men and was specifically about toxic masculinity. So in this case, yes I absolutely meant men. Have you seen it?
You’re telling me there’s symbolism in the scene where he cries in the bosom of a man with big boobs? Get atta here
OP comic is much closer to what movie is about. It is a broad anarchist theme. Focusing on the men’s group organization is an extremely narrow view.

Absolutely, but the way that it is broadly known to be misunderstood is in its commentary about toxic masculinity.
People come away thinking “I should start a fight club” and those people, as the movie, are not generally women. Because (precisely the point of the movie) men are not taught how to deal with emotions in a healthy way in our society.
This is an ongoing issue of society, its what’s led to the male loneliness epidemic, and to point that out is not sexist. we need to address it and correct it.
Obviously the issue is now beyond the point of making a super cool satirical movie about it and its connections to consumerism and the broad failures of our capitalist hellscape.
Your comment wasn’t about the target audience of the movie but about who misunderstood it.
It is a bit crazy to complain about toxic masculinity (a consequence of sexism) by making sexist comments.

The top panel is ‘Office Space’, what about the other panels?
2 out of the 3 movies pictured involve job loss: one spree kicked off by losing the job, and one story about the tension of the “will they or won’t they fire me” and the arbitrariness and unfairness of it all.
So no, only one of these involves unrest amidst a stable career. The others are about unstable careers.

Isn’t the point of “falling down” that

he got fired/laid off from his defence industry job?
Yes, and in Office Space, they had consultants firing people left and right while others were asked to come in on the weekends.
Gen X: why aren’t the millennials thanking us? We took away their benefits and stability. They should feel way more alive now!
That’s another Brad Pitt character, Achilles:
I’ll tell you a secret. Something they don’t teach you in your temple. The Gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.
If I used dating apps, I would mention I like fight club, starship troopers, and V for vendetta in bio. Just keep people guessing.
Do you not have spell check?
the soft ware I was using made it extremely hard to edit text I figured it out by the end but at that point it was to late I already merged all the vector layers
yeah i hate addind text to paint dot net for that precise reason
Here - I can be your spell/grammar check for you:
First panel: Watching old movies is weird. Like, imagine if something like Fight Club came out today.
Second panel: Fight Club in 1999: We work jobs we hate to buy shit we don’t need; we are the middle children of history.
Third panel: Fight Club in 2026: We work jobs we hate but still can’t afford basic needs, while people born to wealth call us lazy.
Fourth panel: Our forefathers were told that if they work hard they could become rock stars or millionaires.
Fifth panel: We were told that if we work hard then maybe we will be able to afford rent and groceries.
Might be worth putting your text into a spell/grammar checker before adding it to an image if English isn’t your first language or you struggle with grammar, as I’ve made around 20 fixes to your text of less than 100 words.
For reference, I’ve also spell/grammar checked this comment I’m replying to:
The software I was using made it extremely hard to edit text. I had figured it out by the end but at that point it was too late; I had already merged all the vector layers.
8 changes to a comment of 35 words.
I’m not going to say it, but I’m too pedantic to not at least comment.
try harder.
Or apparently an enter key
