I remember @ 7-8yo going to the local convenience store with a note to buy my mom cigarettes.
I imagine any adults with poor handwriting did not benefit from this cigarette home delivery system

When I was a kid in the '70s there were cigarette vending machines everywhere. If you wanted to smoke, you could smoke.
