Australian Sci-Fi: The rest of the world is forced to live in a desert wasteland full of criminals the way we do every day, and they struggle to adapt.
American sci-fi: America is technologically, morally, physically, and intellectually superior. And the answer to all ills is more science.
British sci-FI: nuclear war. Almost everyone dead. Bit of a Tuesday, innit?
Hey! There are also Japanese sci-fi which just validate the author’s fetishes. There’s even two I know where that fetish is specifically polygamy.

Russian sci-fi: every single person in the future is white.
Tbf, that’s pretty close to how most of Russia already is.
To be equally fair, though, that’s probably mostly because it’s a very racist country with an ethnonationalist government.
But Fallout is American, not British

He and his descendants live for so long, that sex loses meaning, and becomes some sort of “adult playtime” that he, inevitably, has with his actual children. Granted, the children are also like a thousand years old at this point too, but, still.
Lazarus Long? IIRC he’s also his own parents due to time travel shenanigans. During his early adulthood, he gets a one night stand pregnant and never sees her again. A couple hundred years later he transitions to a woman, for reasons, goes back in time, gets pregnant from a one night stand with a drifter. Both are him. Robert Heinline was a little messed up.
He started writing normal books again after having a brain tumour removed.
I only wish the audio books were available in non-amazon sources.
British sci-fi is more likely one of these:
- Dysfunctional but mysterious magical traveler and his witless sidekicks stumble through space and time having campy adventures.
- Dysfunctional band of renegades rush through space having campy adventures fighting a heartless evil empire with witty retorts.
- Dysfunctional group of misfits stumble through space skewering each other with witty retorts and having campy adventures while trying to find their way home.
There’s definitely a pattern there.

There’s actually a lot of decent sci Fi with Canadian creators / writers / cast / filming location

This just made me think of the show Continuum… I think I only watched the first couple seasons, I remember starting to lose interest at one point but it was years ago. Maybe I’ll revisit.

Judge Dredd, Threads, Lifeforce(Kind of) certainly supports the UK sci fi Idea. French scifi is a little more like EVERYONE ,good and Bad is turned on at all times. American sci fi is spot in,i can’t think of any counter evidence.
