Inspired by the chocolate fruit post. I like brownies and I like most varieties of nuts and legumes but they’re ruined when combined
I don’t want some soft rocks in my smooth brownie. The chocolate flavor is so strong, you can’t even really taste them. It just adds a bad mouth feel.
I do not understand why this is popular. Get em out of there!!
I looove some pecans and/or walnuts in my brownies, especially if toasted first. Disagree that you can’t taste them and I like the textural variety.
If it’s a texture thing for you, how do you feel about chocolate chips in your brownies?
Not the OP but chocolate chips don’t belong in brownies! There’s already enough chocolate flavor in there. Why go overkill?

Sign me up for overkill! Plus there can be flavor variety, have the chips be a darker or lighter chocolate than the brownie.

I’m not really big on nuts in chocolate brownies. It’s a texture thing. I don’t like the soft but hard thing.
However I make browned butter and bourbon blondies with toasted pecans and they add a lot of flavor.

Nuts in cookies are just terrible.

Seems like a pretty popular opinion, judging by these comments. Personally I struggle to think of anything that isn’t improved by adding nuts, both on the savoury and sweet side of things.

Yes, yes, one thousand times yes! I understand sometimes putting nuts on top of something, but when they are mixed in to a brownie or cake or bread they ruin the texture. People who mix nuts into their baking are sociopaths.
Ok but adding things to things and mixing different things is how we get variety. You may not like it but brownies with nuts or anything else added is all part of the process my dude.

It’s their opinion, they can phrase it however they want. It is their mindset, they are not asserting it as a universal mindset. That’s you reading too much into what they are saying.

The secret is to make them yourself. Then they’re exactly how you like.
Not a fan of nuts in a lot of things. I don’t put nuts in brownies, banana bread, or cookies. If someone has a preference for them, I’ll separate out part of the recipe and add nuts at the end. Some things they do belong in, like an almond croissant, and that’s fine.
Nuts ruin almond croissants: change my view.
