In a picturesque town on the U.S.-Canada border, workers under dark clouds were building a new entrance for Canadians into a library to replace one that had long symbolized bilateral closeness.

You’re correct. Most recently He’s mad about Ontario’s ads criticizing tariffs and has called off trade talks. https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/trump-trade-negotiations-tariffs-ontario-ad-9.6951469

I wrote that initialy but Canada has too much style and self respect for that. Also, removing free knowledge from the people will please him more than you and i can imagine! So make it a place where americans can come to warm themselves and enjoy free soup while reading independent media. That will piss him off.

We can still build more libraries, too. Canada has style, but even our Prime Minister knows how to perform a Shawinigan Handshake when necessary, and that’s part of our style. Elbows up.

Canada should burn that library to the ground or just demo the part on our side. If it “long symbolized bilateral closeness” it’s time to elbow up and burn the fucker down.

Or, cut a hole in the side, clear out everything on our side of the border, then put in razorwire.

“Obama tore up the whole south lawn to install an outdoor kitchen”.

Lol! Wut? No he didn’t. Michelle Obama planted her own vegetables in the garden FOR the White House kitchen. That’s why it’s called a “kitchen garden”. That garden has been producing fruits and vegetables off and on, for over 200 years.

It is beyond hilarious that you are asking people to “use any research machine of choice” to check your bullshit…when you haven’t even bothered to do that yourself.

Ok…so, are you seriously suggesting that what the Obamas did, was comparable to tearing down the entire East Wing of the White House?

Obama had the tennis court lines repainted and had a freestanding basketball hoop brought in, and Michelle put in planter boxes, walkways and seating. All of it was basically just cosmetic changes to the grounds outside, with none of it having any impact on the White House structure itself. That’s not “renovating the White House”…it’s just rearranging the lawn furniture.

Fyi to all the people saying to tear down the Canadian side:

You’re saying that we should demolish our own library because Trump is an idiot.
I know it feels satisfying now, but that is a brutally embarrassing self-own if we actually did something like that.

We need to make sure that they don’t lock us out of our own library, though. If we have the ability to demolish our half, then we have the ability to allow our citizens into our half.

They have removed all the books that aren’t about straight, cis, white Christian men so who fucking cares. We’ll build our own library with all the banned books and let anyone who wants to read them sign them out for free.
