I didn’t say that. Yahweh used to be a part of a polytheistic religion and over time became the only god. That doesn’t make polytheism and monotheism the same thing, but it does make Allah and God the same god as the Yahweh from the original polytheistic religion.

Isn’t there evidence that the Canaanite gods El and Ba’al were merged into Yahweh, who remains to this day the Christian god and the Islamic Allah? These people are burning their own god
Edit: My Lemmy client is messing up and won’t let me respond to comments. Just wanted to add that yeah, the Muslim Allah is the same Abrahamic God that Christians and Jews worship. In fact, the name “Allah” is directly derived from the god “El”:
The majority of scholars consider[Allah] to be derived from a contraction of the Arabic definite article al- and ilāh “deity, god” to al-lāh meaning “the deity, the God.” Originally, ʾilāh was used as an epithet for the West Semitic creator god ʾIlu (the Ugaritic version of El), before being adopted as the proper name itself for this god
El, Ba’al, Yahweh, God, and Allah are all wrapped up in each other
Every time I glance at her picture, I think she’s wearing a hospital gown and hospital band. Freda Jackson just looks like she should be in the hospital
Edit: I looked this story up, and her beef was definitely with the British travel agency that fucked up multiple aspects of her trip, not the people of Spain. This is just Daily Mail nonsense
LinkedIn is fine. I work in community-based healthcare and interact with a shit ton of people from other organizations, and having LinkedIn to look people up is incredibly useful. You don’t need to post on LinkedIn, or read the feed at all. For me, it’s purely a way to connect with other people I know. If someone does an internet search for your name, it’s also likely going to be the first hit, and can help prospective employers know who you are

What evidence is there of that?
And are you implying Kid Rock hasn’t gotten plastic surgery?

That you are judging them is the correct answer
Why do you think they feel compelled to lie to you?

I literally said overture in the comment that’s got you all bothered

Reading your reaction to everyone else’s comments, did you read the part where I said credits and an overture? What’s got you so wound up over this? You’ll notice I never said 10 minutes like that first guy, but most movies have way longer opening titles than 30 seconds, which is what you said…

Plenty movies from the 40s and 50s ran all the credits at the beginning along with an overture. IMO the overture is one of the best parts of older movies, which often had amazing, sweeping soundtracks

Love this review: " Unlike Melania’s convention speech, this book is a completely original piece."

Prosecutors said Hughes had been drinking and watching the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl at the bar that night, along with Brewer. After leaving the bar, Hughes urinated on the rear wall of the building.
Lloyd Preston Brewer III, who owns the building but not the bar, confronted Hughes and then shot him once in the torso, killing him. He later claimed that he had acted in self-defense, telling police he feared for his life when he saw a group of people gathering in the parking lot and noticed Hughes urinating on the wall.
“He came at me in a threatening manner and appeared he was reaching for something on his side,” Brewer told police, according to The Miami Herald. Brewer said he warned Hughes before drawing his weapon.
But prosecutors said security footage and eyewitness testimony directly contradicted that account.
“There is no justifiable claim to self-defense because the kid was never armed and never advanced on the shooter, the shooter advanced on him,” Assistant Monroe County State Attorney Joseph Mansfield said.

Eyeglasses are designed with a focal length to project an image through the lens in your eye onto your retina, not to concentrate all the light into a single point.
That said, please don’t stare at the sun for 5 continuous seconds. You are likely to cause permanent long-term damage to your retina doing that. Don’t look directly at the sun at all, ever

Most of the people here left Reddit on purpose, so you may be asking the wrong crowd. What I think you should do is never give Reddit another thought and share content here instead
While there’s plenty to criticize about the founding of the US, eg the northern colonies having to compromise with the southern colonies on slavery, the reality is that expanding voting power to all white land-owning men was a pretty revolutionary concept at the time, where prior to that, power in European culture almost universally derived from birthright. The US Constitution also set us on a course where voting power has continually been expanded and now encompasses all US citizens.
Unfortunately, forces are trying to consolidate power for a small group again, and our system of voting has been continually undermined for about 40 years through the rolling back of voting rights and severe gerrymandering, to where the general public is losing power over our government.
