No Mint pretty much just works.
Great thing about Mint (or most Linux distros) is that you can try it by booting from a usb stick - see if you like it that way.

Only it is more complicated than that too …kbin has boosts as well as upvotes, and boosts count double, so reputation is:
Boosts x2 + upvotes - downvotes
and all of that is as observed by that instance, so much of your history could well be on communities the kbin instance doesn’t know and didn’t see.

Posts and comments are federated (synchronised). Upvotes are actually a bit of a fudge, they are actually ‘Favourites’ if considered from an activity pub (e.g. Mastodon) perspective, and yes favourites are also federated.
Downvotes don’t exist in activity pub and, as a result, they do not federate between instances.
At least that is my understanding.

Not even sure it’s EEE, they just clone and provide the clone of a good product for free and/or as part of windows.
Their products are usually only second best, but kill the market leader anyway.

I don’t really have issue with a bot rate limiting, or suspending users (provided the false positive rate is low enough), but there does need to be a robust appeal and undo process which is the bit which seems to be lacking here.

There are already plenty of audio hats available, indeed they are recommended for better quality sound.

You are rather missing my point. Because it sorts on boosts rather than upvotes it surfaces different things in the federated ‘all’ feed.

Edit: As corrected below it’s about 10k monthly active users, but that’s still circa 10% of the whole threadiverse (kbin + Lemmy) and only Lemmy.world is larger than kbin.social

Have you tried kbin? Same content in that it’s Lemmy compatible, but slightly different sorting algorithm which (in my view) seems to result in a more rounded/balanced set of posts being promoted.
Yes there a different set of issues - it’s earlier in it’s development phase, but developing fast (collapsibling comments is being worked on, API (and therefore 3rd party apps) is imminent, many other improvements are developed and expecting to go live this month…

Sales tax is the most obvious example of adding to the cost I’ve been shown, but it’s everything. Here if there is a price on something that is the price you pay. Period.
If I have €5 and the price on the shelf is €4.90 we are all good, and I don’t even need to know what country I’m in!

But is is more than that, if I take my car in to be fixed, they have to agree every cost they want to charge me in advance at no point can anything cost me more than I expected and agreed to up front.
Airline tickets, theatre tickets, hospital bills, TV ads, you name it, the price they state or advertise is what I pay, no ifs-no buts.

As a European I’ll never cease to find it mind blowing that it is normal for a Americans that the cost to them of damn near everything is more than the cost initially shown to them.

I believe you can moderate a community on/from another instance, so it would be logical if, when agreeing to mutually follow each other, they also agreed to add mods from the reciprocating community?

The Reddit example could have worked the same, but the sub due to scale the equation is different and the benefit of the increased community size is less and the Reddit mods would likely see little benefit Vs the dilution of mod status.

Investing is public transport can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be. Sure building a full on subterranean high density metro system might be the utopia, but actually developing a high frequency, high quality bus route with dedicated bus lanes can be low cost and hugely increase the volume of people carried Vs the lane you took from cars.
Compliment this with docking cycle rental schemes, and some dedicated cycle infrastructure and you can transform how a big chunk of people get to work …you start to win back the city from one which is built around cars and instead making it a city for people.
