I was having trouble with the Stealth app and old.reddit around that time, but “new” reddit was working just fine. Having kinda mixed feelings that it was just a temporary outage and they didn’t finally nuke old.reddit.

I’ve recommended it to others, but none are interested, which is extra surprising considering how many of them work in tech or tech adjacent.
Thanks to divorce & remarriage, I used to have 8 living people that I considered grandparents, plus a few more that I guess could’ve also been considered grandparents, but they were estranged and I never met them. If everyone is divorced and remarried, I think you could claim up to 16 grandparents!
A few years ago, I found myself wondering if my cat wanted a buddy, so I signed up with the local shelter to foster, figuring if it didn’t work out, I’d have an easy “out” to find the new cat another home. I actually wound up fostering a few litters of kittens before adopting a second cat, and have also continued fostering.
If you decide to adopt or foster, be prepared for the first few weeks to be challenging. Read up on Jackson Galaxy’s guide to cat introductions, and move slowly from step to step. The guide is in 5 parts, here’s part 1: https://www.jacksongalaxy.com/blogs/news/cat-introductions-part-1-before-the-introduction
Some cats accept new cats within days, others may take weeks or longer. My oldest is always super pissed off for the first few days, but we usually reach “Eat, Play, Love” around 2 weeks.
Per your original comment:
There hasn’t been an ad for alcohol on US TV for decades
Beer is alcohol. Beer is still advertised on US TV. Everything you’ve said just comes across as a bad faith attempt to redirect the argument.
I don’t usually watch live television, but I definitely saw a few beer ads during the Super Bowl.
Have you tried offering them any of the milk products specifically designed for cats? I’ve seen a powdered goat milk with added probiotics at my local pet store, there’s formula replacement for nursing kittens, and at least one other that I’ve seen.
Edit: Chewy seems to have quite a few “milk” products that are intended for cats: https://www.chewy.com/s?query=Milk&rh=PetType%3ACat
For anyone that doesn’t like blue cheese, a brie works nicely too. I’ve also seen similar concoctions with traditional jams/jellies and pepper (spicy) jams/jellies.
I’m also using 3 button navigation on Android. I’ve tested it on a Pixel 8a running GrapheneOS and some Motorola device running stock OS. It’s hard to say for sure, but it looks like the edge of the activation zone on both of my devices is roughly the same as yours, so I’m not sure why I don’t run into the issue more often. Sorry I can’t be more help.
Blue cheese crumbles in ramen or pumpkin soup. Soft blue cheese on a water cracker, topped with a drizzle of spicy honey. Maybe not super weird, but a lot of people just don’t like blue cheese to begin with.
I definitely prefer adding savory things to cottage cheese, not sweets. Some of my most frequent additions are salsa, everything bagel seasoning (preferably without salt), or red pepper flakes & garlic powder. Oh! Fresh green onions are also good. Also, full fat cottage cheese is way better than the lower fat versions, and I definitely prefer some brands over others.
Huh. I’ve never had that issue and had a bit of trouble recreating it, but did eventually “succeed”. Does it at least save your comment/post draft, and restore it when you try again? Are you on iOS or Android?
Isn’t Venmo owned by PayPal?
Edit: Oh shit, duh. Totally forgot what thread I was commenting on.
I know of at least one US government web page that still references “Gulf of Mexico”, but I don’t want to link it, because I’m very curious to see how long it can fly under the radar. I have a thing set up that checks the page regularly and will alert me whenever it changes.
Is there a way to set up archive.org or something like that to save regular snapshots without risking drawing more attention to it?
Comfort, which to me usually means:
I’m also a child who hates tying my shoes, so a style that’s intended to slip on and off is preferred, but I can switch to elastic laces instead.
I never actually used Twitter, but recently made accounts on Mastodon, Bluesky, and Pixelfed.
Pixelfed has been my favorite of the three so far… I’m finding that the image-based focus means my feed is mostly fun stuff, that leaves me feeling happy, not gloom and doom of news, snark, etc.
I’m not sure how long I’ll use Mastodon, but I’ve been finding hashtags and users that I’m interested in following and interacting with, and the keyword filters have allowed me to limit (but not eliminate) the depressing stuff.
Bluesky pissed me the fuck off since I couldn’t find a way to follow hashtags, only users, and the Lists thing was just not what I wanted either. Bluesky’s filter is disappointing compares to Mastodon’s too, since Mastodon allows you to hide filtered words behind a content warning or hide them completely, while Bluesky seems to only hide them completely.
About 10 years ago, I signed up for a seedbox for torrenting purposes. USD 15/month, which was roughly the same as Netflix at the time. Since then, Netflix has repeatedly raised prices, dropped content, and added ads. On the other hand, I’m still paying $15/month for that seedbox, and they’ve upgraded my storage capacity and bandwidth allotment multiple times.
Anything that includes public transit routing? It doesn’t look like OSM or MapQuest include public transit, and I’m not seeing an option to use Apple Maps via the web browser on Android.
For destinations I go to regularly, I can easily pull up schedules without Google maps, but if I’m going somewhere new, Google maps greatly simplifies the process of figuring out which route(s) to take.
What instance are you using? How are you accessing it (browser, app, etc.)?
It’s happening. Slowly.
I first dabbled with Linux around 2015 by dual booting. Ran into too many issues, then I royally fucked shit up by accidentally deleting the bootloader or something, so I was pretty hesitant to try again. I finally got a hold of a surplus laptop from work so I could install Mint on it without any worry that I’d lose important data.
I’ve been using that as my primary PC for a few months now. I’ve run into some minor challenges, but nothing critical that I couldn’t figure out with a search engine.
I had another old laptop still running Windows 7 that has been having weird issues, but I’d been too lazy to backup the files so I could wipe it. I finally pulled the trigger today, fully wiped it, and installed Mint on it.
I’m not ready to preach Linux to my “normie” friends yet, but do mention it to them here and there in hopes I’ll be able to bring them over in the future.
