Is the only thing that’s going to fix the housing crisis actually reducing the cost of homes? And nobody actually wants that to happen… so…
I thought it was funny 🤷♂️
I don’t know all the facts but maybe if more people.votrd in the first place Donald wouldn’t have won? Maybe not… But Americans should be pushing back and they haven’t done anything yet but complain online. Pushing any single one of them to take action is better than only attempting to punish the ones who don’t even care.
Yeah I agree. I’m trying to be optimistic about whoever we have next isn’t going to sell us out or pull a USA. PP doesn’t instill much confidence but I just hope he has some heart or desire to do good and not be evil.
Not that I support PP (also I hate that I need to specify that first) but he’s got a couple videos on YouTube that I thought were fairly well done addressing a couple things regarding trade and some plans.
Thanks a lot for Immich and for posting here. Much appreciated the hard work this year and helping myself and family on our self hosted journey.
I just recently discovered proxmox and am slowly moving my docker containers off my NAS. Picked up a used Intel NUC, i5-8259, 32gb ram, 512gb HDD. It’s been great so far, very happy with its ability paired with proxmox.
Thanks I will look into those products as well as Home Assistant. I’ve yet to pull the trigger on installing HA, I don’t have a lot of devices that have made me want to use it yet. We only have a couple Google speakers and Chromecasts.
Apparently it’s to detect nearby devices so that you don’t have to pair the traditional way.
The other thing that bothers me about these lights is they have a built in microphone that listens for music playing and can adjust the lights to match the music. I haven’t looked myself but some users on Reddit have posted about the amount of network activity with Govee cloud and Google Analytics being very high.
If I can isolate them from accessing the internet and connect through Home Assistant locally then I may keep them… These are sort of a trial run for future permanent Christmas/Occasion lights on the outside of the house.
I think it’s debated a lot but from what I remember it’s because the sky is a big empty space, the Eagles are sentient and do what they want, the nazgul patrol the sky and dead kings sense the ring. Sauron has an eye that is ever watching. It would’ve been too dangerous and risky to lose the ring for the Eagles while the enemy still lived.
I find the price has also doubled.
What exactly is he talking about? Which law prohibits the specific ‘free speech’ he is referring to?
You took it too far bro
I’ve been to Paris 3 times, I’m from BC in Canada. April, May and October I went. Had an amazing time every time, people, food, places. It’s one of my favorite cities.
I live in southern BC and heat with a newer Carrier heat pump. The outdoor unit is a 28 seer model paired with an indoor ducted unit. It works fairly well until a week or two when we have -25c and below which I switch to our baseboard. I’m a home builder and built the house and it’s definitely better than a 1990 or older home but nowhere near the efficiency we are building today.
Our electric rates are $0.142/kWh. I don’t know what gas is as I don’t have the option.
I do agree that heat pumps struggle with colder temps and northern homes, especially older ones, aren’t going to be able to heat consistently through the winter. Storms and outages also are an issue but gas won’t heat a house if there’s no power either.
Gas is cheap and it is fairly efficient (debatable) but the rest of your comment is silly. My wife and I and a child of 5 live in a 1000sqft house (two floors total 2k sqft) and heat and cool with a heat pump. Electric on demand water. Nothing crazy about the building as far as insulation and air sealing. 2012 build-to-code. Our electricity bills are NEVER over $200 a month and usually under $150 a month. We haven’t had a power outage in two years and the last one was scheduled for about 1 hour.
If you want to argue for gas make better points. Electricity is cheap and reliable. I don’t disagree that gas is cheap also and that we shouldn’t entirely abandon gas and I’m a realist in thinking we can’t eliminate it entirely and suddenly.
Ceramic/glass top electric is shit. I’ve used gas and induction a fair amount, but at home I have a mid range priced electric ceramic and it’s terrible compared to the other two options.
!kootenays@lemmy.ca (BC) is not growing much but could be added?
I can see your point about the housing crisis in a way. It restricts people’s ability to have a place to live and, shelter. But does that really affect their freedom? Cost of living also is difficult but it’s not really preventing you from being “free” in the sense of the word. Or is it? I may be missing the point.
I’m completely ignorant to policing issues, especially in Vancouver. I generally don’t agree with law enforcement having too much control.
In my region of BC the reconciliation stuff has been very well received mostly. Indigenous people are a big part of the community and their culture has expanded into the school system, their businesses are successful. Housing projects for indigenous have also been going on constantly.
