  • It depends on your definition of “gun nut”. If you’re referring to someone who enjoys the historical significance of firearms, are intrigued by the engineering involved, and/or maybe goes to the range a few times a year to target shoot for fun, then I’d say it’s likely.

If you’re referring to someone who fetishizes guns and makes it a core component of their personality, I’d say most likely not, unless you’re the type of person who already does that with other things.

  • The gun laws enforcement agencies talk about not enforcing are the “assault weapon” bans. The reason they don’t want to do that is because these laws set a dangerous precedent where millions of US citizens become criminals overnight, at the stroke of a pen, for owning something that is extremely common and was completely legal the day before.

They don’t want to go door-to-door demanding they confiscate people’s guns because, number one, thats what fascists do, and number two, that’s how shootouts happen. Can’t say I blame them.

  • If you would shoot someone over a parking spot, you shouldn’t be able to own a gun.

For the non-US people out there, you should know the shooter will lose his second ammendment rights following this incident. A conviction for any violent crime, even domestic violence, makes it illegal for you to own or possess firearms, and will cause you to fail the background check required for any and all gun purchases (yes, even at gun shows). There’s a grace period where you’re allowed to surrender to the police any guns you can’t legally sell, but after that, it’s illegal to own or possess any firearms for life.

For some reason, I feel like a lot of people, even US citizens, don’t realize this.

  • We know it’s not a joke. The three most populated cities in the US are in deep blue states and full of people who don’t want this. For everyone in those cities, it would take days and hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, to travel to the White House. Most of us are behind on rent, have had our cars repossessed, don’t make a living wage, don’t have healthcare, and have unsustainable credit card debt.

Outside of a very vocal minority, the American people are overwhelmingly united around the fact that we don’t want this to happen.

However, the American people aren’t in control of the American government, and the American government are overwhelmingly united around corporate interests.
