If this also affects other bacteria and germs, wouldn’t that mean people would not build up immunity to anything around them. It’s reasonable for places like airports, hotels, and public spaces and subways but not “everywhere”

Just the other day I was thinking if i could run a mini games server on a raspberry pi. All the flash games growing up in a local device would be pretty darn awesome for the kids. would this help accomplish that?
This is why opensource developers get burnt out. If you don’t like it, fork it. Stop shoehorning what you want on other people’s project, especially for petty things like this.

It works fine for where I am but using a privacy friendly alternative is going to come with downsides, as it depends heavily on crowd sourced data.
Searching sucks big time for me too, as locations are not written in english here, you have to assume what the english transliteration might be. I just start with short close matches, and that usually works out after a little bit of digging. Google maps usually gives out most searched locations right away and often that’s you’re looking after.
We can only hope It will get better as more people start using it

You get a raspberry pi. Then you get a durable SD card. You make the card bootable with the appropriate tool on your PC. While you’re on the PC, you can make additional configuration changes in text files to configure wifi network credentials, static IP address and others. WIFI credentials being most important if you don’t plan to connect it by ethernet or don’t have extra monitors, keyboards, and mouse.
Then you place the SD card to the Pi and boot it up. It automatically connects to the WIFI using the credentials you set in the SD card. If you used an static IP address, use it to ssh into it. Then copy the pihole installation code from the pihole website. And you’re done.
If you want to give pihole a try before you get a Raspberry pi, you can install it within other Linux OS, like Linux mint. You can move all the configurations by exporting them later.

Yes, this is not your local backwater town where you know there are a few visibly shitty & disgusting people and people tell their kids to stay away and everyone becomes safe. And if you think shit doesn’t explode on the internet, you might be living under a rock last 2 decades.

The person who sent those however might be and the tech today makes it incredibly easy to prove where anything came from since everyone is being tracked.

How about we prevent such things from happening by discouraging it in the firat place? Sure, they won’t be down to 0, but your solution starting after the distribution has already started is highly disturbing.

Why is mastodon the worse one?
Many people coming from twitter run from the fediverse, because they’re told there’s nothing other than mastodon, which they find hard to use, lacking and extremely toxic.
Why is everyone so adamant that Mastodon should accommodate to users leaving Twitter by being a Twitter clone? It was meant to be federated, privacy friendly, self-hosted, less toxic twitter alternative for small communities , not a clone of Twitter. People act like everyone becomes seasoned to using Twitter or other mainstream social media websites by default and it’s mastodon’s fault they leave because its not exactly like Twitter. It’s pretty straightforward to forget all about the fediverse and rant all day, just like Twitter.
It’s one thing to improve UX for users and another thing entirely to specifically chaperone users leaving Twitter, which is not Mastodon’s goals.
I’m curious, If I delete my account periodically, are the profile and activity like comments/votes still out there in other instances? are votes deducted? I’m not sure if this is the right question but does deleting accounts federate?
