These have much better color rendering. They don’t feel as washed out.

This feels like a great candidate for bracket exposing/HDR to help with the image impression. The whites near the top got blown out in these photos a bit to much. It looks like your camera is on a Tripod so if your camera can’t do auto exposure bracketing I would take one photo a stop underexposed (to get the whites) one correctly exposed, and one over exposed. Then through them into a photo editor of your choice (gimp is free) andess with the layering to get the right blend. Some programs also do auto HDR merge.

If I were taking this photo I would probably try to lean into the color and texture rather than the 3d shape of the onion/chives/scallions. I would go for a ring light around the camera or a couple of softboxes and reflectors to eliminate as many of the shadows as possible depending on what you have on hand. One of those cheap photo boxes off Amazon might just to the trick for something like this.

Thanks! It’s a Samyang 85mm f/1.4 on my Fujifilm X-H2. I’ve been really happy with the photos it takes even if I have to practically stand in another room. I’ve got a Brightinstar 35mm f/0.95 on the way that I am REALLY excited for.

Just incase some one reads this and gets any ideas. Don’t do this if you are a renter. While it is easy to install if you are doing it correct and using the appropriately sized wall anchors you will be left with dozens of hols from small nail size to larger quarter sized holes that will all need to be filled, patched, sanded, primed, and then painted to match the original wall.

That being said I’m THIS close to saying screw it and putting some in every possible room of our apartment.

According to about 12 seconds of googling this article feels borderline. This article specifically references a 2010 study that says 12% of women carry the gene however the article fails to mention what the study specifically says. In the opening paragraph if the study it says “However, the existing evidence is sparse and inconclusive.” & “Our results suggest that most carriers of color anomaly do not exhibit four-dimensional color vision, and so we believe that anomalous trichromacy is unlikely to be maintained by an advantage to the carriers in discriminating colors.”

I found three different studies regarding this. One said that it was about 15% of women, one said it was 50% of women and 8% of men. Another said that women with color vision defficiency and mild color blindness might have tetrachomacy effectively rendering the extra cones pointless. ANOTHER study showed that only one person EVER had been diagnosed with Tetrachomacy.

While I really appreciate media that brings to light conditions that the average person might not know about I really dislike articles and media that make things seem way more common then they are and/or portray things as fact that are far more nuanced. We already have enough people self diagnosing themselves or self identifying with abilities/disabilities
