Most of their moneymakers are casual internet users who don’t care about any of this stuff and would only stop using reddit of it literally became unusable. If everyone who would be willing to use Lemmy stopped using reddit permanently right now they still wouldn’t care and would have plenty of users left.
No, in other words I still like participating in communities for games, shows, and other topics that I like and there isn’t an alternative to reddit to fulfill my wants. Reddit won’t care if I stop using it, they’ll still make their money from the 99% of users (or more) who don’t care. I’d love to use lemmy more but a social platform doesn’t work for me if I can’t find people I want to socialize with.
Because lemmy isn’t nearly as large as reddit and most of the communities I’m in are barely (if at all) active on lemmy
This might be a server side error, actually. Here’s a comment from someone on r/redditmobile:
“For me, it displays the “no notifications” prompt. I think there is a server/app error that is causing notifications to not display. The “enable notifications and email” pop ups that occur when checking the activity screen might display instead of the “no notifications” box might appear if you do not have them enabled.”
Companies like TurboTax bribe politicians to not pass laws that would require you be told how much you owe
The best long term solution for both nicer cities, happier people, and less environmental damage is to overhaul our infrastructure. Don’t build trains in car dependant cities, make the car dependant cities walkable with public transportation that will leave you within a few minutes of your destination. The real reason self driving cars are the “future” is because selling cars has a higher profit margin than train/bus tickets.
Or you could have a train that drops you off either close to your home or close to a bus station that drops off near your home. This would require a walkable city, so it’s definitely not as simple as just building tracks and bus stations. The issue is that Americans are so used to car dependent infrastructure, that when they try to imagine what public transport would be like, they think of it in the context of where they live. That’s why I think so many are opposed to the idea. It’s not an impossible task, it’s just that it’d require money and effort, so it probably won’t happen.
The more people try to “innovate” transportation the closer it gets to going back to trains. Driverless cars, for efficiency have them communicate with eachother, to accelerate and brake at the same time, for example. That’s just less efficient and more expensive trains.
You don’t even know what a kernel is, and I doubt you’ve seen any modern desktop environments. There’s nothing wrong with linux, there’s not development that needs to be done to fix it, the vast majority of issues I experienced were just a few windows apps or games not having good linux support. This isn’t a fault of linux, it’s the fault of the developers behind those apps and games. Also when I want to install something on Linux, I simply open discover and search for it then install. Anything not easily found in discover is most likely for more tech savvy power users anyways
What’s even more annoying is they’re capable of recommending interesting long videos, they purposefully recommend shorter videos on mobile (like less than a minute), on pc they recommend more long videos and the TV app seems to have the most long videos
Remember that episode where they trained a chat bot off a dead loved one? Then it evolved to a cloned voice, then a realistic robot body? Well we’re one step off from that
use qbittorrent instead
Maybe he secretly loves mastodon but doesn’t want to admit it so he keeps making terrible changes and somehow people keep eating it up and buying twitter blue. He’s probably just dumb though
No one wants to force you to get surgery. It’s possible you were just misunderstood since announcing you don’t want to transition is a completely random and pointless thing to do. I said that in my comment because you said you wanted the rules about homophobia and transphobia gone
Then find another instance where you can be as homophobic and transphobic as you want
What is it with the obsession with infinite growth for every company anyways? Why can’t they be happy with a stable, still extremely high, income? The people at the top already have more money than they need but still want more for no reason
It’s what it’s
Letting your cat get that big is animal abuse
It’s google. They’re paying their bills just fine
