LMFAO this is the same privatize-but-regulate-prices bullshit that they sold to people during the 80s-90s privatization wave.

I once heard that the fastest way for a billionaire to become a millionaire was to buy an airport.

I wonder how true that still is.

It always happens. After privatization prices go up and/or service levels go down.

That’s the only way for the new owner to “earn” their profits.

Privatization is a one-time win for the finances of the government of the day, and a long term burden on the people who use that service.

But some profiteer gets infrastructure for cheap that they can extract profit from.

The only time privatization leads to a decrease in prices is while they are squeezing out competitors. Then it inevitably goes up while quality drops. Privatization is always profit before people. It’s past time to kill that idea, and, if necessary, its proponents.

Are the airports the problem with airfare? I thought the issue was that the domestic market is too small to support meaningful competition.
