Sounds like the DoE developed a way to extract uranium from sea water using some sort of polymer, and they are taking tech funding to “commercialize” it
Somehow I believe they will have the same level of success as previous guys who tried to get gold from seawater.
Seeing is believing! It is also to be seen whether nuclear power is indeed the way ahead to solve humanity’s problems, banking on regenerative energy sources seems to be the more popular route in most countries. Probably because nuclear is NOT clean technology.
Check out the 4th gen liquid metal-cooled breeder reactors. Those designs virtually eliminate the long-term radioactive waste produced by older reactor designs.
I did just that. There’s NO benefit against a load of wind turbines or photovoltaic.
None are commercial.
Since 2021 China have 1 commercial HTR-PM but it cannot be used to recycle nuclear fuel directly.
