It’s kind of a complicated story, all these events occur within a 48 hour period:

  1. I made a comment along the lines of “today we have groups that resemble nazis and need to be armed to say they’re bad for our future too”
  2. Received a permanent ban, probably related to the word “armed”
  3. Appealed that ban
  4. Receieved a second permanent ban for “multiple violations”
  5. Appeal successful, first ban lifted.
  6. Still banned via second ban, no option to appeal.

The second ban, which appears to be referring to the first ban with “multiple violations” still stands, even with first ban’s successful appeal and lift.

So is that it? No more Reddit for me?

    I have just also been banned.

    They will ban you the moment that your speech is not adhere to their Disney worldview, it is ridiculous.

    I am truly done, deleted the apps, don’t even bother to evade the ban. Even twitter/X is better than that BS

    Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately a common story with Reddit. Lemmy isn’t a complete replacement, but it’s a damn good one. Hope you’ll stick around - it’ll get better the more people are around

      I’ve been using Reddt on and off since high school: almost 20 years. So it’s weird to not have it anymore.

      I like Lemmy, its got some rough edges, but don’t we all?

        Lemmy is streets ahead of modern Reddit. It’s honestly pretty close to replicating the feel of Reddit 15+ years ago, back when it was more intellectual and dense, less accessible but also way less engagement-baity. Reminds me of a time when the entire internet felt like knowledge waiting to be discovered.

        Every so often I go back to Reddit and I’m always astonished by how lowest-common-denominator everything is now.

    It’s hard leaving, especially when you’ve dedicated so much of your time and energy and it’s been entirely unappreciated. Think of this as your opportunity to rebuild what was good about reddit, that no longer exists anymore. And be part of something that will greatly value and appreciate your time and input.
