In the meantime, the comparison in the headline is rather insulting. Imagine being one of the world’s largest nations, up and coming economically with a government ever more staunchly progressive and independent of foreign coercion, then being compared uncritically to a tiny little US puppet state.
There is obviously a size differential between Mexico and El Salvador which makes a big difference on what measures Mexico can implement compared to El Salvador due to the size difference and the federalized nature of Mexican politics. Yet, the importance is to show that there is an alternative to Bukele’s dictatorship model in restoring rule of law over organized crime.
