I also saw that in the YouTube comments, which is dumb as shit. People on Reddit are far too credulous, but this time, they dug through the OP’s history and pretty unanimously decided it was real. I personally looked and agreed; it lines up too well. You don’t develop a Reddit history over two years that lines up behaviorally and stylistically with a fake, batshit TIFU post you hope will go viral (wildly inconsistent on Reddit by that time even for really good posts) hoping to use it as an ad for your music. The chances it’s fake are very slim; the chances it was orchestrated by Mohawke aren’t even worth considering.
Also, the most popular uploads of ‘Cbat’ on YouTube combined have 15.8 million views, and YouTube pays out something between 0.002 and 0.005 bucks per stream (probably on the lower side for music). So this whole culmination of his musical career would’ve brought him somewhere from 31 to 79 kilobucks over the past three and a half years from YouTube, and likely even less from other services.
