Men make money to survive this cyberpunk dystopian capitalist hellscape.

I’d hate to break this to you, but the cyberpunk dystopian capitalist hellscape is in its infancy. It’s barely learning to crawl yet.

Enjoy the next thousand years or so… if you can…

For those wondering what typically defines the cyberpunk literary genre, its key elements include:

High-tech, low-life scenarios: Advanced technology, such as cybernetics, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality, is prevalent, but it exists alongside widespread societal breakdown and poverty.

        Dystopian future:
The settings are typically bleak and oppressive, often dominated by powerful corporations or decentralized, corrupt power structures.

        Impact of technology on humanity:
Cyberpunk explores how technology shapes society, culture, and individual identity .

        Antiheroes and rebellion:
Characters are often morally ambiguous rebels fighting against oppressive systems.

I forgot what this conversation is about and I don’t feel like backtracking. All I know now is that end-stage ligma is a mouth-less person who’s craving ice cream.

I was making a reference to to Harlan Ellison’s I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream in which characters are kept alive and tortured perpetually. In the end one character takes one for the team, killing the others to end their suffering, and as punishment is reduced to a blob with no limbs or mouth so they can’t harm themselves.

but also I really wanted ice cream

I can’t speak for everybody, but I remember when the first continents were formed from geothermal vaults at the bottom of the ocean.

Or maybe that was just a mushroom trip. Either way, the dystopia has only just begun. Stop being pedantic.

By golly you’re right. You’ve been alive ever since you were born, with no death interruptions. You’ve cracked the code for immortality.

The reappropriation of the Buc-ees beaver is similar to the reappropriation of Mickey Mouse by punks in the 70’s.

Nothing says 'Muricah more than Buc-ees (and maybe us flag bathing shorts). It is a mecca for meat, oversized sodas and snacks, petrol consumption, and nice toilets to shit all the garbage you’ve consumed.

An .ml account in the Fediverse sporting the ultimate symbol of American consumerism is exactly what I’m going for.

I’m sure it’s true for some women. But I wouldn’t be surprised if most working women were either married or in a committed relationship. Plus, a lot of households have two incomes out of necessity. Both partners need to work full time just to make ends meet.

That was all the salesmen at one place I worked. Mormons with tons of kids. They’d go anywhere in the world to get away from them.

To be fair, parenting is a pretty shitty gig. Expectations are high and support is low. People judge everything you do, especially those who have never done it themselves. Even with good kids its a thankless slog most of the time. God help you if you get a hard one.

In the early nineties I knew a Mormon man with a happy housewife & 10 kids and he would run a marathon by himself every day just to be out of the house.

you know, i’ve always been wondering about whether that is secretly a covert plan of the wife so the husband works longer hours, makes more money and makes the family richer. i’d seriously not put that past some people i’ve met in my life …

As a gay man I can whole heartedly tell you only women think men make money just to get women. Plus if a woman is attracted to a guy just because of wealth then that’s a doomed relationship, now go sip your tea

Yeah, it’s mostly so we can afford cool things. Or even just live comfortably without worrying about money.

I think women overestimate how much men think about them, to be honest.

This reads like the “manspreading” video that Russia put out to get us to hate each other.
