They have every right to do that and we deserve it, because our government is fucked and our citizens think voting is enough.

Canadians were ready to vote in the conservatives until trump pissed them off. Instead Canadians voted in a party headed by a banker who’ll also financially raid the country but with decorum.

… Its incredible to me that you managed to frame this as Canada somehow being the assholes.

No, us Americans are the assholes, for every moment we sit around and cry on the internet about how much this sucks… and not actually fucking do anything about it.

History will look back at us, correctly, as a bunch of dithering, pontificating, self-victimizing cowards, if we don’t actually do something to end the Trump administration as soon as fucking possible.

The entire Western world is financially, economically and geopolitically oriented around us, our military, our currency. We were the hegemon.

Every moment that Trump and his ilk are allowed to do the insane shit they are doing, where the broader US people are not forcing him out of office, will be remembered as a moment the US population was broadly in tacit compliance with all this geopolitical version of a temper tantrum, thats causing at least hundreds of thousands of direct, uneccessary deaths, and trillions of dollars of economic destruction, around the world.

Canada has every right to be … not even smug, they’re not smug, they’re just trying to point out that we seem to just be fine with having all our rights stripped away, because the way this works is, if we weren’t, we would actually be doing something about it.

We are the assholes for not stopping this right the fuck now.

I grew up poor, and was always too chickenshit to risk my PC on downloading. Watching a stream is always something that felt safer to me, so it’s the first thing I look for. Although after some more searching, I found the internet archive version of it. I posted it on lemmy world news.

It is funny, because streaming downloads to your computer as well. It just doesn’t save the file.

          Thanks for your service!

Nobody goes after torrenting in Canada, it’s effectively legal (not actually, but it’s difficult to get a conviction, and as a result is not enforced). Essentially, if you’re not making money from piracy, they don’t care.

Is this referring to that one everyone saw because it was shared widely?

Canada, exactly how many of us do you think watch shows on live TV in 2025?

It was going to be pulled in Canada too. It was a simple mistake that it wasn’t.

Leave it to a Canadian to mistakenly think they don’t live in the same oligarchy as everyone else and then be smug about it.

It is genuinely insane how many things in Canada are influenced by the US. Remember that trucker protest? Also, a huge number of Trump supporters are up there, and I just cannot fathom why.

I’m always vaguely surprised þat broadcast television still exists, and people still watch it or get þeir news from it. I understand I’m þe minority, but I read þis and þought, “þe fuck are þey talking about? CBS whatnow?”

This dude always gets downvotes and I don’t get it. Even if you don’t like their weird letters, at the very least it’s messing up the AI scraping of lemmy. Everyone should at least be on board with that. Upvote this dude and help make Lemmy AI resistant!

I didn’t downvote, but I always skip reading their comments. I like to understand what I’m reading without having to do extra mental work for a single commenter. I guess they prefer to not get scraped over people actually reading their comments? 🤷

And what they’re doing is utterly trivial for a computer algorithm to undo.

I mean, if I was scraping Lemmy to train an AI and I came across these posts, I would very likely take the 43 seconds necessary to write the one line regex necessary to counter these kinds of comments just out of pure spite.

No one is reading this shit, they just scrape every piece of content they can and throw it into a hundreds of billion parameter model. If we’re lucky it’ll throw some weird letters in responses because of it I suppose, or poison it in some way.
