Could be any kind of performer be it comedian, podcaster, actor, etc.
I remember back when I was young, there was one of them country guys who did stand up, and he always had either scotch or whiskey during his routines. He belonged to the you might be a redneck…group.
Ron white. Huh I thought he was dead.
Ron White. The only funny one in blue collar comedy
I don’t know. I may not have liked all of the stuff he did, but the larry the cable guy bit had some good ones, and foxworthy’s bit about drug side effects was well done.
Larry and Foxworthy had a couple good bits but that was about it for me. I found White at least was consistently funny.
And now he’s sober.
Love his skits
They call me… Tater Salad
Still alive and on the wagon.
According to his wiki page he quit drinking after an Ayahuasca trip.
Hey, good for him. The pictures of him do seem better.
My high school music teacher went to a Dragonforce concert circa 2008. He said they were completely wasted, didn’t sound anything like the album, and barely knew where they were. Just an absolute waste of time. He got an autograph from one of them (must’ve paid for a VIP ticket or something) and they wrote “wish I didn’t have to meet you, asshole.”
He liked them a lot less after that
Guns and Roses pulled that shit on me on '91. Couldn’t even tell what song Axle was on he was so fucking wasted. And the acoustics were awful.
We were tripping acid and got turned around on the road trip to OKC, missed some opening band called Smashing Pumpkins.
For what it’s worth, Axl Rose is basically the poster child for diva musicians. There are entire AV companies that specifically refuse to work with GnR because Axl is such a renowned asshole in the music industry. Basically every person who has met him for longer than 15 seconds has some sort of horror story. He’s basically the reason the “musician trashes hotel room” stereotype exists. He has like 30 or 40 arrests on record, largely for asshole behavior like drunkenly grabbing women in public, throwing things at people, etc… But the record label treats him like a golden child because the band still draws crowds.
Source: I work in the music industry.
Good on you the smashing pumpkins aren’t all that good
I went in 2007 and they sounded exactly like their album, they out on an incredibly show, and I got high-fives from a couple of them as they were running through the crowd. I’m sorry his experience wasn’t good, but I can provide another perspective. My friends and I all had a wonderful time.
I’m an 80’s boy, and a documentary was made about my rock stars and their drinking habits (among other things).
The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years
As an extra aside, I can’t imagine that Lemmy spent any day sober since leaving Hawkwind until the day he died. When he was told he was sick and needed to stop drinking, he gave up whiskey and started drinking a case or more of wine every day. God, I miss Lemmy. 😁

The singer of Smash Mouth seemed to really hate that people only cared about All Star. His latest shows were) had some drunk rants. He’s dead now
You mean the guy who drank himself to death after performing at Sturgis during COVID?
Chris Jericho? Oh the “to death” part hasn’t materialized yet, just the 80lbs of booze weight.
somebody
edit: don’t know what’s more pathetic. my attempt to start the meme or the fact that !SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works holds a grudge for some dumbass reason.
someBody
I didn’t read the book and didn’t know what that name meant, so I’m amused to find out that’s a characters name and not just an out of place reference to some Slutty Barf Fest party in the Hitchiker’s Guide to the Universe universe
He’s dead? Thats nice.
Ron White i believe
Bizzy Bone from Bone-Thugs-n-Harmony. Dude was a serious alcoholic. Saw his show back in like 2012 or 13, I forget the exact date, and he was completely shitfaced. He carried a handle of vodka and a bucket up onto the stage with him and alternated between drinking straight out of the bottle and then coughing/spitting/possibly puking into the bucket between songs. People in the crowd were like wtf man. It was disgusting. He had a fucked up childhood, so I’m not surprised he hit the bottle hard, but damn.
I was listening to Knowledge Fight which isn’t a regular listen for me, and it sounds to me like that Alex Jones dude is just shit faced at all times.
As a kid I didn’t get the drunk Dean Martin jokes on Bugs Bunny. Watching him on old roast videos, yeah, he was fucking hammered 24/7.
Go check some Don Rickels roasts! The man was fucking brutal, thought Sinatra was going to cap his ass on the spot when Don joked about Frank’s mob ties. Kissing Sammy Davis Jr., “Did I get any black on me?”
Dean Martin was faking it. He barely drank, and was not a partier. It was all an act.
I remember an interview, where he broke kayfabe and hinted to the interviewer something to the effect of “do you think I could be as successful as I am if I drank that heavily?”
No way! And all these years later I learn this.
Rickles had ZERO chill. fuckin hilarious though.
Buddy of mine went to see Joe Cocker and dude passed out at the mic before singing anything. They refunded everyone.
Weirdly, killed by lung cancer instead…
I wonder what would everyone do if instead he sang out of tune?
I don’t know, man, I think I might just stand up and walk out on him
oh baby now!
I think this is what Feelin Alright is about
Was Sid Vicious ever sober?
Dylan Moran, maybe not drunk necessarily but he is always drinking wine on the stage during his sets from memory.
Plenty of old-school metal bands, or well actually just a fair majority of metal bands in general I guess were/are quite partial to drinks/drugs.
Alice Cooper used to be a raging alcoholic. He managed to turn things around though and helps others with their addictions.
The Replacements have a history of playing shows completely wasted. There’s particular Saturday night live episode where they ended up getting banned from playing on ever again.
Shane MacGowan. Exhibit A: Irish Rover (he comes in around 0:38)
Legendary. Bear in mind that a lot of The Pogues’ lyrics are about getting hammered.
The Kills used to put on some of the sloppiest and rowdiest drunk concerts, they were dope. They’ve since gotten sober, and while the music is better, I miss the messy shows.
Last day of magic oozes drunk I love you but fuck you
Didn’t know about that but checks out with those early albums that’s for sure.
Why is that something enjoyable as a show? Sounds awful to me.
It was still solid musically, just had more edge and agony to it. Matched the tone of the music. Now the show is just so sterile and spot on. I guess as a degenerate, it was nice to see them rage a bit
Interesting, thanks
