Carney employed the same approach he used in the English leaders’ debate this past election.

Let his counterpart run their mouth off with all sorts of their usual bullshit and lies. Then chime in with a careful mix of making his opponents feel important and successful while also broadcasting the most important messages that need to be said.

And guess what? Everything Trump said today, people will forget by Thursday. In contrast, Carney embodies the Canadian model of strength: telling the most by saying the least.

He talked about Canadian defense spending as if that were a fig leaf to US. Anyone who ever tells you Canada needs to defend the Arctic from anyone other than US is a traitorous lying US agent. F35s are also the wrong weapon for the job.

Seems like gaslighting to beg for a deal, and a return to “broken US relationship”, instead of pressure. Easiest pressure is banning US weapons purchases.

I’ve got to say I’m not very impressed. I feel like this is Canada’s Joe Biden moment. I saw it coming but they refuse to acknowledge they need to do better.

Really? Did you watch the whole video? Trump rambled on and on and on. Kudos to Carney for keeping a straight face and not LOL. Carney is a diplomat. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

Take off the CPC-tinted glasses. There was nothing comparable to Biden there. Carney handled that meeting very, very well.

What do you mean by “Canada’s Joe Biden moment”? Joe Biden had at least 4 years worth of moments.

I don’t understand what a “Joe Biden” moment is? He pulled the US through the damage of Trump’s first term and was objectively a pretty successful President. I have no idea what you’re getting at. Seeing an adult in the room with Trump?

If only we had the collective good sense to put a smartie like you in charge eh?

Alas. We must shoulder on, bereft of the illuminated path of your divine wisdom. We must try not to sink into the mire of despair, but gird ourselves for the long, arduous road ahead.

      God speed Sir John Richard.

Lol, proves my point. Enjoy it while it last. Unless they actually take money out of politics you’ll be right where we are in the US sooner than you think.

You respond to me but not the others asking for clarification or your thoughts on the matter? Curious.

I don’t have time to respond to everyone. If they want to see my response then they can read my response to you.

Just one is enough in this thread. We are genuinely curious and engaged. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
