Too fancy for me. I will go with skewering them on a sharpened pole and leaving them as a warning to the others.

You are of course completely wrong about that…There’s also slicing off small pieces until you prove that none of those pieces were indeed cake.

A skilled operator could easily use it as a deli slicer. One could even use fancy blades for flare and variety.

Reset time is too slow even with a skilled operator, it’ll get boring before you get done.

That’s a pretty flimsy looking guillotine, better order one locally from a carpenter.

If it ain’t flimsy, it ain’t Ikea.

Do you guys think if the blade should have wheel & rail assembly on either side, like pull out drawers?

As long as the blade isn’t able to create a turning moment as it comes down it’ll work smoothly, but that could take some adjusting (as well as carefully planning the geometry of the short side of the blade). Also graphite inside the rails would help tremendously as seen in wooden drawers that work on wooden slides alone

All the fun of incorrectly assembling Ikea stuff with the added bonus of a sharp blade :)
