I’m not talking about the people going underground part or them not knowing why they are there, but the parts were lots of things are hinted at or plot bits dangled and then it just turns out there aren’t any answers.

No, From is the new Lost. It’s so good though, I highly recommend it.

Dan Erickson has said that he knows how it ends and has a specific scene in mind. But they don’t know exactly how they’re going to get there.

I mean, that’s kinda what they said about Lost, but then they had to fill 3 seasons because the network wasn’t ready to end it, and by the time they got to the end, everyone had guessed the twist and it went out with a whimper.

Of course we’ve had other terrible endings to massive shows since then, so

Oh no, that’s giving me Game of Thrones / ASOIAF / George RR Martin / King Bran vibes!

It could be in a sense of how much it is loved/discussed, and the fact that it is appointment tv like Lost was (which is not really a thing anymore making it even more impressive!). But Severance seems to me a much more consistent and well thought out show that is well planned/leading somewhere (not in circles like Lost did). Yellowjackets feels more like Lost to me, the seemingly aimlessness of some plots, the weird supernatural bits thrown in to confuse, the lack of answers. I also get the same feeling watching Yellowjackets that I did watching Lost near the end - hate watching just to see where the ridiculous story goes and if they can even have a satisfying ending. Severance feels like things happen for a reason, and they have the ending figured out but only time will tell

I don’t feel as if that much is so unexplained that It can’t be resolved. There are no giant smoke monsters.

The Eagans and their weird mix of puritanical religion and wealthy privilege are straightforward enough. They are fucking weird and entitled and they have directed some of their giant corporation’s resources into research projects that at once delve into the metaphysical aspects of what it is to be human (the weird religion) in a way that dehumanizes and oppresses those who populate their experiments (this is the wealthy privileged part).

What are the goats for exactly? Damn if I know but I can invent multiple explanations.

What is the ultimate intention for this severance technology? Don’t know but there are multiple plausible explanations from getting people to do immoral things without question, to keeping industrial or state secrets secure. Or possibly as a form of interrogation or torture of some kind.

Why did Mark’s wife get a faked death? So his severed innie could be exposed to her as the ultimate test in how well the severance works. They have to keep her in her innie state because they kidnapped her outie, and she would fight back.

While the surface level story of severance is annoying since it doesn’t like to give answers (so far), it also criticizes workplace culture and work in general which makes it satisfying to me.

Seems pretty early to talk about questions being unanswered when it’s just halfway through the second season

Everything I’ve seen on Severance is at least plausible and has several explanations. The show ‘From’ on the other hand can get fucked. The entirety of Season 2 was just adding more layers of questions and answering none from S1’. Sorry to distract/hijack from the main subject but man I’m still salty about that garbage.
