We rent a house for Thanksgiving every other year. This year’s house has a broken oven thermostat, the oven’s element just stays on no matter what you set the temp to. This has unironically been us, though we got a chair.
I assume you’re a better person than me and don’t do this, but right now I am absolutely fantasizing about just leaving the dishes and whatever is sticky all over the counters, moving house, and starting a new life… That’s what I imagine when you say you rent a house for thanksgiving and fully support it.

Asian squat is only common as a term if you live near or in asian communities. Same idea though. Came from the stereotype of seeing asian aunties and uncles squatting on the sidewalks.
