  • Me: Not an anime fan.

Me reading this headline: "I guess that’s a good thing to START doing…kinda weird that wasn’t the default for decades now…

Then I remembered how there’s always the trope of a little 5 year old girl, who’s just doing little kid things, but then OH NO! LETS SEXUALIZE HER, AND CLAIM SHE’S AN ANCIENT SPIRIT AND IS ACTUALLY 100 YEARS OLD!!!

And I’m just like "Yeaaahhhhh, no. If I’m not going to get aroused by humans dressing up in furry costumes because it’s too close to the idea of fucking an animal, then I’m also not going to be ok with sexualizing the image of a child, regardless of how old her character is. It’s still very much presenting the image of a child, and sexualizing that image.

So that brought me down a wide range of reactions I didn’t know I had. From indifference, all the way to outrage, all from a media form that I haven’t thought about in 20 years. So now I’m just mad that this wasn’t always the case. Like, yeah, it’s a good step in the right direction in 2026, but it’s kinda like in 1945 Germany saying “Hey, we’re not going to be nazis anymore…”

Great! Where was this mentality all along?

  • This would have been more effective in the 90s where people actually hated gay people.

I’m not saying it’s right, or that I agree with it, but in the 90s it was socially acceptable to hate gay people.

Today? Today this looks like an obsolete joke whose punchline no longer lands.

Because I’m not gay, and I’m not a cop, but if I pulled this guy over as a cop, first thing I’d do is prey on this guys insecurities and homophobia.

The bumper sticker no longer points fun at cops, but rather identifies the wearer of said bumper sticker as an asshole.

  • I’m going to start dressing up like a dog. And you’ll know it’s just a middle aged guy. Standing in a dog costume. Outside your window. For no reason.

You’ll know all of that is true. But I’m still going to stand there. Still going to distract you. And eventually you’re going to come over and question me. That’s when I’m going to jump on top of you, and start licking your face, and humping your leg.

You’ll be disgusted. You’ll try to file a police report. You’ll be insistent that this guy just won’t leave you alone. But everyone else except you will not see a man in a dog costume. They’ll see a dog. They’ll wonder why you’re being an asshole to this friendly dog. Then your girlfriend will be like “What is WRONG with you??? I’m going to bring the dog to my apartment for the night. I don’t think he should be around you right now…”

And that’s when I turn to you, and say “Yeah man. I’m going home with your girl. Gonna sleep in her bed while you’re away. Hump a little leg, if ya know what I’m saying!!! Ha ha ha!”

You’ll point and say “SEE?? DID ANY OF YOU HEAR THAT??? HE’S TRYING TO STEAL YOU FROM ME!!!” and your girl will be like “What’s gotten into you??? I think it may be time for therapy…”

It’s at that moment you look and see a small frog on the grass. And you say “Oh, and I’m sure YOU are going to start singing and dancing now???” to which the frog replies “…what?”
