I would like some recommendations for NES, SNES, N64, PSX, PS2, Wii, NDS and Gamecube libre emulators, if there’s something that can emulate at least various of the first consoles it would be even better, like Lemuroid does on Android. Thanks!

I use Retroarch for everything up to N64 and PlayStation (beetle-psx, I think). Dolphin for Wii and Gamecube because I find it’s easier to configure games in its UI as I need, than using dolphin-libretro. I’m not sure what the meta is for NDS, and, and PCSX2 is basically the only thing going for PS2. I try to play PS2 games with PS3 ports in RPCS3 instead.

EDIT: seeing @nothuman@baraza.africa 's comment, I’ll give some core recs for RetroArch:

    Gameboy/GBC: Gambatte

    NES: Nestopia

    SNES: Snes9x

N64: ParaLLEl (works great for OoT rom hacks)

    PSX: beetle

Thanks a lot for your detailed answer, I think I’m going to keep using RetroArch for everything before PSX and use the rest you mentioned for other stuff, although I don’t think I’m going to be playing PS3 games or something like that in a while.

Not really, unless you consider libretro a different project.

Yeah, after some searching I found about it, feel pretty stupid that I’ve been all these years without knowing about it. Where do you download ROMs?

Torrents have pretty much everything, there’s even SNES and Sega Genesis torrents that have every single game ever made for those systems.

Wow, pretty amazing, are these on regular trackers or do you use specific ones for ROMs? I am not interested in that many games, though, I am only interested in isolated titles in old platforms to be honest, since they tend to have a lot of issues either on gameplay or in terms of sexism.

Yeah they’re on the public trackers. I don’t understand why people use private ones, when privacy VPN’s are so cheap (if you happen to live in a country that cowtow’s to the US’s filesharing crackdowns).

It makes sense to me, you can find very specific content at super high speeds, it is not so much a thing related to privacy but content and quality, a lot of people who are on pruvate trackers use seedboxes so they are spending money anyways.

vimm’s lair is a good spot. Check Reddit for nointro dumps, try to get the most current one you can find, and you’ll have every game on consoles up to the N64.

I have heard vimm’s lair is pretty good, but you can try some torrent’s sites.
