Defederation from Lemmygrad.ml - Lemmy.world

Hello World, Today, after careful consideration and evaluation of recent events, we have decided to defederate from Lemmygrad [https://lemmygrad.ml]. Regrettably, we have observed a significant increase in hate speech and calls to violence originating from the Lemmygrad instance. Due to the severity of the posts and comments, we are not waiting for the next Lemmy update that will allow users to block instances. At Lemmy.world, we have always strived to foster an inclusive and welcoming user environment. However, recent posts and comments from Lemmygrad have clearly violated our server rules and, more importantly, our core values. We firmly believe that hate speech and incitement of violence have no place in our community, regardless of personal beliefs or affiliations. As always, we encourage all users to report any content they deem inappropriate or harmful. No matter one’s stance in any conflict, Lemmy.world will always take immediate action to remove and ban any posts or comments that incite violence or propagate hatred. We encourage everyone to continue engaging in discussions within the boundaries of respect and understanding. As we move forward with this decision, we remain committed to providing all community members with a safe and welcoming space. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation in upholding our shared principles. Thank you, The Lemmy.World Team

Meh. I hope that they have fun without this. They clearly would have benefitted from it.

I almost want to laugh seeing them unjokingly using the term ‘totalitarian’, which is usually a clue that somebody hasn’t been keeping up with modern historical scholarship. If they were writing in the 20th century then I could understand that, but being a totalitarian theorist in the 2020s should be pretty embarrassing.

Oh this is actually very helpful as I’ve been confused about the term “totalitarian” as it’s been used in so many different contexts it’s hard to figure out what it actually means. At best I’ve seen people use it interchangeably with “authoritarian.”

”Authoritarian” is another one — what does it mean? If you go by the dictionary, why doesn’t the U.S. get included?

Authoritarian is when they don’t like a state. The more the don’t like that state, the more authoritarian it is. And when they really hate it, it’s totalitarian.

Yeah it’s the same thing as calling a country bad or evil, but with a big word that sounds academic. You can get away with saying the most horrific shit here if it’s spoken in formal language.

Discussion Community for fellow Marxist-Leninists and other Marxists.

Rules for /c/communism

Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.

  1. No non-marxists

This subreddit is here to facilitate discussion between marxists.

There are other communities aimed at helping along new communists. This community isn’t here to convert naysayers to marxism.

If you are a member of the police, armed forces, or any other part of the repressive state apparatus of capitalist nations, you will be banned.

  1. No oppressive language

Do not attempt to justify your use of oppressive language.

Doing this will almost assuredly result in a ban. Accept the criticism in a principled manner, edit your post or comment accordingly, and move on, learning from your mistake.

We believe that speech, like everything else, has a class character, and that some speech can be oppressive. This is why speech that is patriarchal, white supremacist, cissupremacist, homophobic, ableist, or otherwise oppressive is banned.

TERF is not a slur.

  1. No low quality or off-topic posts

Posts that are low-effort or otherwise irrelevant will be removed.

This is not a place to engage in meta-drama or discuss random reactionaries on lemmy or anywhere else.

This includes memes and circlejerking.

This includes most images, such as random books or memorabilia you found.

We ask that amerikan posters refrain from posting about US bourgeois politics. The rest of the world really doesn’t care that much.

  1. No basic questions about marxism

Posts asking entry-level questions will be removed.

Questions like “What is Maoism?” or “Why do Stalinists believe what they do?” will be removed, as they are not the focus on this forum.

  1. No sectarianism

Marxists of all tendencies are welcome here.

Refrain from sectarianism, defined here as unprincipled criticism. Posts trash-talking a certain tendency or marxist figure will be removed. Circlejerking, throwing insults around, and other pettiness is unacceptable.

If criticisms must be made, make them in a principled manner, applying Marxist analysis.

The goal of this subreddit is the accretion of theory and knowledge and the promotion of quality discussion and criticism.
