I’m just saying both sides whine. The Chinese government whined when the weather balloon got shredded and the US is whining now that Chinese plane is waggling its wings at the US plane. Both governments are just whining. I guess another word for it could be posturing?

Again, the difference is that US surrounded China with military bases, has been trying to build things like QUAD to contain China, and has now started an economic war with China. Saying that both whine is simply false equivalence. US is a clear aggressor here, and China has shown incredible amounts of patience dealing with US over the years.

Yeah, when even the Vietnamese government is calling China out for their aggression in the South China Sea, it’s not a US v China thing.

Ah yes, US is just trying to protect Vietnam from big bad China because US has a long history of helping countries like Vietnam. Cool story bro.

I never said the US was protecting Vietnam, way to put words in my mouth. I’ll explicitly spell out what I said a second time: When two historically antagonistic countries, such as the US and Vietnam, both independently hold the same opinion that China is being overly aggressive regarding its claims to the South China Sea, China is probably wrong.

You seem to think that I’m some jingoistic US MIC supporter. I am not.

I never said relations between Vietnam and China weren’t friendly overall. I said that when pretty much every country near the South China Sea, including Vietnam, say that China does not have territorial claim over the South China Sea, China is probably overstepping and the aggressor in this specific situation.

The context for the discussion is US flying spy planes in South China sea. Vietnam has nothing to do with that last I checked.

You should probably check again, because Vietnam has claims on areas of the South China Sea that overlap China’s claims.

You do realize that even extremely friendly/allied countries can have disputes right? You also realize that there’s nuance to everything, and no country/government is perfect right? Criticism can be levied at a government without invalidating everything that government has done.

I don’t need to check again, US has absolutely no business in South China sea. Whatever disputes Vietnam and China may have, are absolutely unrelated to US constantly escalating tensions there. I’ll try and explain this to you again, US comes half way across the world to surround China with military bases, and to constantly fly military aircraft and sail military ships right by China. This is an act of aggression, and it’s absolutely surreal that you continue trying to pretend that it’s China that’s the aggressor here.
