If they still wanted to use ‘AI’ to summarise or interrogate it, they could then pass that text to something like Jan on their own hardware.

Star Labs Starbook mk7, ‘made for linux’, pas moins.
Not recently. When the laptop was new I had Fedora on it which was worse. Then I switched to Debian when Trixie came out and it’s been much better but still happens occasionally. Over time I have tried different settings in Coreboot though - perhaps I should reset everything there to defaults.
The last I heard Youtube actually makes a loss in terms of cost and ad revenue but is worth maintaining because of the user data it makes available to its parent company. The low ethical standards and backing of one of the worlds biggest corporations allow it to outcompete any alternative.
If we’re serious about dealing with the problem we need to deal with antitrust and privacy.
I doubt they will do it but video creators need to organise and put pressure on government to enforce the law on this.
oeuf@slrpnk.netto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you read analog clocks to the exact minute? How do you do this quickly?2·24 days agoYou’ll just get used to it over time. Think of it as spatial rather than numeric.
It’s actually easier on the brain in my opinion.

It’s great. It’s the most “just works” experience I’ve had with Linux.
If you’re struggling with your windows plugins I highly recommend checking out kxstudio for native Linux ones. There are excellent plugins for audio production on linux. I also recommend using Ardour as your DAW.

These exploitation economies are a race to the bottom.
That’s exactly what they are and exactly what they do.
oeuf@slrpnk.netto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Leaving GitHub. Seeking ethical music server alternatives.English8·1 month agoI don’t have any app suggestions for you but have been reading through the comments and just wanted to say that I’m 100% with you.
I have a similar conversation with other musicians I know and it’s the reason that I (and many others) won’t release anything on Spotify: Just being there adds value to them and what they do is destructive and dirty.
I hope you find something and keep standing up for what’s right!
Your timing is excellent: Debian 13 is due for release on Saturday :)
Good one, especially for hikers and sailors 👍
oeuf@slrpnk.netto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•San Francisco is deploying speed cameras this week. If everything goes according to plan, the number of deaths will be reducedEnglish141·1 month agoSpeed cameras are very common in the UK and while they don’t eliminate speeding altogether, they are effective.
Apart from the risk of either a fine, doing a ‘speed awareness’ course or losing your license, it also means that people who are driving too fast regardless are more likely to simply get stuck behind other drivers who are observing the speed limit.
Also have a look at Jami. You can use it for calls and sharing files.

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I’m doing at the moment (haven’t quite got to door-to-door though - maybe it will come to that). Those are some good ideas for locations for placing ads - thanks. I’m out of that headspace and need to get back in it!
I can’t help noticing how much work is coming in to my peers from instagram though. I’m getting the impression that it has become the standard medium/conduit for professionals.
Yes, I’ve updated to 25.06 which I think is the latest version. I was also having some issues with waking from suspend but they are fixed now I can manage the lid switch in Coreboot.
