Gen X owes you nothing

lol old people hate. Because blaming any other group for the world’s problems is very bad…. It’s as if the boomer generation was obligated to create utopia; not any generation previous or since. Just them. And when the last of them have died off, the youngins will scapegoat whoever is old in that time. So Millennials, you might want to get your excuses ready; you didn’t leave the world a better place for them…

’ve posted some made up memes in various places over the years and hoped to see a repost some day. And here is one! Neat-o. So here’s the story behind it. On another site, someone posted a t-shirt idea of just the text. In the comments, a second person joked that the text would go nice on a Gadsden flag. And I thought hey I can that, so I did. The original context was slamming MAGA and similar ilk. The repost here is a bit ambiguous. Are there words missing in the title?

200 million Americans in 1970, 340 million now. The dream of a nice house with a big yard is limited by space; space that also requires farmland, forests, parks, etc… We need dense apartment buildings, not houses.

First paragraph: yeah!
Second paragraph negates the first. You want change? Go for it. Yelling at old people ain’t gonna get you any changes. You gotta do it yourself. I remember in college, a long time ago, people in my age group lobbing the exact same complaints how grandma and grandpa didn’t make the world better for them. They complained, yet didn’t put much effort to changing anything, particularly in voter turnout. But if you look at the creeping tide of history, you’ll find things ever so slowly getting better in a bunch of different ways. The newer generations are never handed a utopia, but are certainly welcome to work at creating one.

“Narcissistic bullshit” is intergenerational. In fact, it has nothing to do with age. So you’re going to hold Gen X “accountable”…? Geezus fuck off. Go hold the pre-WWII generation accountable, or 19nth Century people, or the Roman Empire era folks… This whole generational gripe-fest that some of you espouse is just aimless trendy nonsense. I don’t respect it.

I’ve always thought the boomer/millennial whining was people of the exact same personality being insufferable to each other, just throwing down inane stereotypes while being emotionally immature and unable to be decent people.

Every age group has people like that, of course. I just get tired of having to watch it play out constantly online. So just shut the fuck up and do some good in the world. Instead of griping about people, show us something inspirational that you’ve done. Be the example of what you want other people to be.

Leave Gen X out of your generational sputterings

I’m annoyed by celebrity culture, but geezus anti-celebrity culture can be just as insufferable.
Just tune it out people.

The generational level of “concern” can be measured in voter turnout data. It isn’t very good.

Two questions: 1) Who you gonna blame when they’re all dead and 2) What are other, apparently superior “generations”, en masse, doing to realize a better world?

This is wrong. It’s 20-25%. And the last 50 years includes a whole bunch on non-boomers and a massive industrialization of Asia. WTF is up with you people and “boomers”? There’s always going to be old people. And all of them were formerly young people.

Ha ha sure, 200 years of Industrial Revolution but it’s the “boomers” fault.

I just finished a couple of books I got within a “few” years ago… I bought them when they first came out. Checked the copyright: 2014 on both… New Year’s resolution was no new books until the old ones are read.
