I recommend tofu sisig and sweet & sour tofu!
What search engine do you use?
Can’t you just replace the battery somehow? My phone’s old battery had an adhesive which the repairman just cut, then he put in a new adhesive and battery in.
What??
Chill
Now I feel bad for the people whose anxiety I accidentally triggered…
I can relate as someone who realized they’re actually more interested in the Humanities after choosing a STEM preparatory course. Then I remembered that the reason why I chose STEM is because my country doesn’t give a shit about professions other than being a lawyer, doctor, or engineer.
Or you can read world history that isn’t just Eurocentric stuff. Hell, I bet most people don’t know European History in depth. You can even get into scholarly theology, from Christianity to Hinduism (which btw, is more of an umbrella term as it is composed of multiple religions). Read philosophies like Confucianism, which will help you understand a bit of Chinese culture.
Get into folkloristics, it’s pretty fun. You can get into all the Slenderman stuff because it’s literally untapped mystery you can’t just rely on secondhand sources, all the research is centered on one controversy that somehow killed his popularity but not every other religion. My “job” (it’s a hobby) is basically having to read the hundreds of all the Slenderman blog ARGs ranging from 2009 to the present day, as well as all the freaking Slenderman and Creepypasta comics. It’s just interesting how religious patterns emerge out of something spontaneously created on the internet, like Zalgo vs Slenderman having parallels with every other religion with “divine rivalry”. Interesting anthropological subject.
Not only that, there are buses intended for long and short routes. So even if you live some towns away, your bus won’t have to stop as often.
Well, one of the reasons why I used 3rd party apps to begin with was because the mobile Reddit app was an unoptimized buggy mess for me, which often overheated my phone.
I use Stealth with the express intent of not contributing to Reddit (there are no ads on Stealth) while consuming their server’s resources. It’s a sort of protest in its own way. Especially since those niche interest subs are the only way I could quickly get information about the community without having to scroll through discord servers— hell, in Lemmy-Kbin most of them are run by bots reposting from Reddit, and there is no way I can manage or advertise my own magazine, what with my busy schedule in my university.
I hate how everything has to be monetized nowadays, or how money is to be expected for everything. Eventually people who provide free service or altruism will be seen as competition.
It was recently on local news, but that’s not the only conflict that involved water cannons and ships. From the article you can see Vietnam— they once saved filipino fishermen from potentially drowning. (from Philippines) https://www.rappler.com/nation/233079-how-filipino-boat-crew-was-saved-west-philippine-sea/ (from Vietnam) https://e.vnexpress.net/news/news/all-gestures-no-words-as-vietnamese-fishermen-saved-22-filipinos-3940276.html. If china continues their actions, there are bound to be casualties. And if that happens, I’m not sure any of us will forgive them.
China is already bullying the Philippines too out of our own territorial waters, and they have already caused severe injuries to our countrymen. They literally want an entire sea to themselves and leave us with none. Just look at their nine dash line.
Edit: Here’s their nine-dash-line, they even want Malaysia’s sea, which is a long way away from chinese mainland, while they want seas close to the land territories of so many SEA nations.
Maybe your public transport infrastructure needs improvement? I don’t think this post wants to judge you— it’s advocating for public transport to be paid more attention. My cousin lives 3 towns away from her workplace— she commutes with a bus or jeepney. We have either buses, vans, or jeepneys; combined they operate 24/7. Hell, my university has students more than 5 municipalities away, the buses start operations early in the morning. Our classes start at 6:30 AM. Oh and btw, our buses have routes more than 300km. Maybe even more. Regarding Eddy, we have something in my country called a motorela or a tricycle, that operates locally in neighbourhoods. He won’t have to walk far, he just has to wait for one and let it deliver him to a waiting area.
45 minutes is a long time near nightfall, though… Honestly I’d rather take a bus at 5PM, even at 12km, since there are other people and it feels much safer.
“The most important impact you can have as a consumer is not that the lack of your personal revenue is going to keep the likes of Jeff Bezos up at night. It’s that you’re providing revenue and a user base to alternative businesses that are struggling to exist in a world where most people just use Amazon.”
I agree! I think we should frame boycotts this way, I can’t stand companies abusing their chokehold on the market. It’s also a more feasible and tangible goal.
