After seeing how some autistic friends interact with Gemini and ChatGPT, something clicked. These tools made them able to be more empathetic at work, and one even managed to be promoted thanks to his “ability to show a fast growth in the office” by helping him navigate through office politics. The bot is like a personal coach over their shoulders all the time, explaing what people really meant with the messages they receive, and helping them to soften the blow of their data driven, rutheless factual observations and arguments, adjusting their responses into something more palatable to their bosses. One of my friends said he tells everything that happened at the work after he clocks off, and asks for insights, saying that it helped him to understand how to act in that ambient and reducing the anxiety of having to guess what the correct behaviour should be.

Using autistic people as a means to defend AI is a wild take.
Also, I feel this take is generally popular in real life and in most online spaces. Most people I have met in real life have the take of, “IT’S INEVITABLE SO BETTER GET ON IT!”
Congrats on posting an actual unpopular opinion!
I guess, if loneliness and lack of human experience/maturity is like heroin, ChatGPT is like methadone? So I’m glad overall that these lost souls, unprepared for life, have found some solace in the machine but idk, seems like something an actual functioning society would take care of, the whole raising people to be people kind of thing, and this is a bandaid and an analgesic that will only help compound the problems in the long run.
