As a new Lemmy user, I’m curious where most people use it from - Is it web, mobile, desktop app?
I’m using Photon and it looks pretty good. At least better than the default web one.
Phone, boost. Always forget I can also use my desktop browser but honestly I’m so used to Boost it’s like it’s a completely different website
Really it was Reddit no longer allowing third party apps to use their APIs that got me to look elsewhere and since I had been using Boost for Reddit anyway, and there was also a Boost for Lemmy
I use it from the toilet
Mostly on mobile.
I switch between 3 apps because they each have features that I like.
Jerboa because I like to view user profiles and communities moderated
Voyager because I like the user tagging feature
Eternity because I prefer timestamp format instead of time elapsed format, and it reminds me of Infinity which was my preferred 3rd party app to browse reddit, when I used to do that.
If only I could have user profiles, user tags, and timestamps in one app…
Boost app
From home mostly. Sometimes from public transport, or the shitter at work.
I had bought the ad-free version of Boost before the Redditpocalypse, so I got the ad-free Lemmy Boost and have found it to be pretty great.
When I’m at my computer, I use the theme that looks like a dark mode of old reddit.
On mobile with Voyager. I’ve tried other clients, but I always come back to Voyager.
Voyager. I’ve been extremely happy with it.
VSCode extension.
Toilet.
In fairness, the internet is a series of tubes…
You think that’s bad, you should see the uriness
Your mom’s room.
Voyager App.
Almost exclusively.Same. On PC I use a web browser, but it’s so much slower and less polished than Voyager.
F-Droid version of Jerboa, and apparently I’m the only one? 😛
You’re not alone! I prefer using a desktop web browser, but when I’m on my phone it’s F-Droid Jerboa.
I use the default interface in browser primarily, but I use Boost on my phone as well as Voyager.
I’m an old school geek. To me, an “app” is basically software running on a phone (in that context), or perhaps software running on a computer (although typically I’d use “application” there, but it depends. A small “application” might be an “app”). I know this is not universal. But for example, to me, reddit or Facebook or Lemmy is not an “app”, it is a “website” that you can access via a browser or an app.
A small “application” might be an “app”
Also old nerd here. To me that would be an “applet.” I miss applets.
Ah, haven’t used “applet” in quite some time, but yes, definitely it was (and I support current use) :)
“Thunder for Lemmy”
Same. First one I discovered and it works pretty well.
