As a new Lemmy user, I’m curious where most people use it from - Is it web, mobile, desktop app?

I’m using Photon and it looks pretty good. At least better than the default web one.

I had bought the ad-free version of Boost before the Redditpocalypse, so I got the ad-free Lemmy Boost and have found it to be pretty great.

When I’m at my computer, I use the theme that looks like a dark mode of old reddit.

On mobile with Voyager. I’ve tried other clients, but I always come back to Voyager.

You’re not alone! I prefer using a desktop web browser, but when I’m on my phone it’s F-Droid Jerboa.

I use the default interface in browser primarily, but I use Boost on my phone as well as Voyager.

I’m an old school geek. To me, an “app” is basically software running on a phone (in that context), or perhaps software running on a computer (although typically I’d use “application” there, but it depends. A small “application” might be an “app”). I know this is not universal. But for example, to me, reddit or Facebook or Lemmy is not an “app”, it is a “website” that you can access via a browser or an app.

Also old nerd here. To me that would be an “applet.” I miss applets.

I was a long time Sync user (used it for years on Reddit before Lemmy) but it has been abandoned by the Dev. It hasn’t been updated since Mar 2024. I got sick of all the little stuff that didn’t work right and ended up moving to Voyager.

Summit for Android. It’s good and fast. I’ve tried some web apps, but I always return to Summit.

Same here. Had to disable the swipe actions because I use android’s gesture navigation. But it’s the only app I’ve used that gets out of its own way.

Mobile Voyager user here too. I’m mostly pretty happy with it, as it reminds me a lot of Apollo. It would be nice if keywords and link domains I’ve blocked were sorted alphabetically instead of by block date, and if crossposts from communities I’ve blocked were also themselves blocked.

I don’t think I’ve signed into the web version in months, if not at least a year.

I have too many apps on my phone so I haven’t looked for a mobile version. Using it from web on both phone and desktop.

    iOS voyager webapp

It works very smoothly, it’s very efficient and without it I wouldn’t browse lemmy as often.

Before I discovered lemmy I was using apollo for Reddit which was exactly what voyager is today. I think the apollo dev allowed voyager to use the code base of Apollo
