What’s a suggested donation for an average user? I currently have €1/mo set up via LiberaPay.

From what I know, non-profits can better calculate with regular lower but regular payments. I make a monthly payment of two Euro which isn’t the world but it’s steady, ends up a similar amount per year as you, and I won’t cancel this anytime soon.

Hi admins! Could we get updated financial info for this year? Are the costs still the same? There was a tax bill last year, is there one this year? Did you ever find an accountant? As a small point of order, it’s better to have all of the financial info up to date before asking for more money.

I setup a monthly reoccurring bank transfer last year, but I’d like to see current financial information to know if I need to adjust my transfer amount.

It’s already semi-p2p by the way federation works. I think it would be highly ineffective to make it actually p2p.

Imagine having every user host their own community on an instance. Then you have to federate across other users to have other content in the instance, . But instead of it being 400 instances now, it’s 77,000 instances all trying to stay current from various toshiba shitboxes.

Content aggregation is more of a “master list” problem than a computing problem to solve. Which is easier from a central repo.

Probably Liberapay. They don’t take any fees because they’re also funded via donations. The only fees that occur on there are the payment processors (banks, credit card companies, PayPal, etc), and you have to deal with those fees no matter what

One can presume the preferred option is their preference.

But the preferred option makes little sense for Europeans in the SEPA region. SEPA transfers have no fees attached by law.

5$ a month. I was just thinking about how I’d never pay for any kind of reddit anything. But this doesn’t feel all hurty in my soul. Ty for making a space that’s not hyper capitalist.

Also, we had some unexpected extra costs (over 1000,–) when we had to pay taxes for the foundation (strange, for a non-profit…). I’ll see if we can get an accountant to check this, but also accountants are costly…

    Ouch

Do you have any non-profit support organizations, local to where you have your accounts, that might be able to help for cheap or pro-bono?

Thank you for all the work you do!
