Yup. So you think God and Heaven are naturally quite important so you go to school to specialize in Bible study, and there you learn the Bible is crazy contradictory patchwork written by men serving the needs of their society at the time and that’s all religion ever is, so then you start thinking about how you’re going to make a living and you might decide to leave the church, or you may decide you like the cushy life and don´t mind lying to people every Sunday who are asking you to lie to them, who are paying you to lie to them.
If Narnia is real, the most important thing for all people is owning a wardrobe and keeping the hinges on it.
If existence is infinite there is no difference whatsoever between heaven and hell. The idea of “happiness forever” is a 4 year old child’s conception of something desirable, and shows absolutely no awareness of what it means to exist.
And before someone starts in with the “You’ll be altered so that heaven will be perfect forever”, you’ve destroyed any meaning of it - if you’re going to be made to enjoy it, you could just as easily be made to enjoy hell. The whole concept is stupid.
Heaven is the desperate hope of the tired who don’t need eternal bliss - they need a break and a chance to actually live.
You just lack imagination.
Heaven is two goth girlfriends who alternate between loving you and ignoring you. Occasionally they step on you.
Won’t find that in any philosophy book because philosophers are prudes.
Everything hinges on an if?
OP made it to the mid 1600s in philosophy.
“If A is true, everything hinges on B” does not imply that everything, independent of A or not, hinges on B.
Well, every theoretical discussion falls apart if you just cast aside the assumptions of the scenario.
“If humans could fly, would more of us live in trees?”
“If?!? I’m not building a treehouse based on if!!!”
God created the integers, everything else is the work of man*
*Except infinity, which Good invented to punish those who don’t understand math, and reward those who do
What type of infinity? Aren’t there like 5 classes of infinity?
Its wild to me people dont understand heaven and hell is an allegory for perspective.
If heaven is real, we will have bigger problems than infinity.
The funny thing is, as an atheist trying to live a reasonable life I see far less issues for me than a lot of so called religious people.
