It really bothers me that lead rhymes with read and lead rhymes with read, but read doesn’t rhyme with lead.
Leather seats in a car or on a couch might receive tears over time. That’s part of the wear and tear. Same for clothes. Sometimes you wear out the knees of jeans and sometimes you tear them by bending over.
