There are many channels I stay subscribed even if there is a gap in content from a month to years.
Looking at my PipePipe subs - Bob Music, Digital Engine, EugeneTeo, Fuzo Tech, Humble Road, Husk IRL, Laura Malvoyante, Ozzy Man Reviews, Potholer54, Side of Burritos, The Imaginary Axis, The Invisible Internet I2P, Veronica Explains are all low on new content.
Doesn’t cost me anything to stay subbed.

I didn’t say Ozzy Man Reviews was a dead channel. Ozzy’s last video was 6 days ago. Previous to that July 9, June 24 and June 15. I would call those gaps in uploads.
I don’t think I’ve ever unsubscribed from someone or a channel just because they stopped posting. Like you said, it costs nothing, and if they’re not posting it’s not like their lack of posts is cluttering anything. Then if they ever do come back, I’ll be one of the first to know.

Mitten Squad. Guy popularized challenge runs with his fallout and elder scrolls playthroughs, and his deadpan delivery gets me every time. Unfortunately passed away after a long battle with alcoholism. I miss that dude. I don’t think he realized how much light he brought the world.
I fully agree, I was devastated when I learned what happened, he used to be my go-to for when I needed a good laugh after a hard day. I’ll still go back and watch his videos, I just wish he could have gotten the help he needed

What kind of videos are those monthly ones?
The format is her just talking to the camera. Unedited, the patreon supporters vote on the topic, but she still does preparation and research on the subject to present. Usually at least 45 minutes each and there’s 105 of them now

I like Mike’s other stuff, but this will always hold a special place in my heart. Their videos taught me that not only could you learn stuff from YouTube, it could be really fun!

He used to custom paint and plate hotwheels and then one day 5 years ago he uploaded his last video. Wouldn’t be surprised if he passed from covid or something like that
I really miss Jack Stauber.
I miss old Rooster Teeth. I rarely go back to it, but I go on a little watch spree every few years.
I’d also include Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games. Incredible channel that was run by the man himself. I’ve learned so much about the developer side of things from his channel. Sadly he ended it a few years ago because he felt like he was able to talk about pretty much everything he wanted to touch on. And he had to get working on Kirby Air Riders.
A couple other small ones would be:
Scykoh- Made a series called Glitchfest where he would break down and show off significant bugs/glitches in games. Similar to A+Start.
Jasper- A guy who broke down how Nintendo created certain elements of their games. Very informative as well, but he only made a handful of videos and then just randomly stopped a few years ago.
Sp0ntanius- Musician who made creatively edited Zelda music covers. He actually still uploads the occasional video. But he often doesn’t upload for several years at a time.
Ya I archived the RoosterTeeth/AH stuff I loved, in case the company does some destructive restructuring now they’ve disbanded fully. Plus YouTube can’t be trusted with anything now.
I still see Jack Patillo crop up on Twitch streams and podcasts and whatnot
I miss Brian David Gilbert hosting polygon, his absurd videos like cooking every recipe in Zelda were great. AnyAustin has kind of stepped in to fill the void (and then some!), but BDG was doing great stuff. He’s still around with his own channel which can be very funny but it’s not quite the game related stuff I miss.
